Weird Burger News

Relishing married life
Two fast food addicts celebrated their marriage with their dream wedding cake - a 42lb cheeseburger.

Tom and Kerry Watts' mammoth burger was nearly half a metre wide and weighed the equivalent of about 100 quarter pounders.

It was the highlight of the couple's wedding reception which was held at Zak's American diner in Norwich.

Firefighter Tom, 36, said: "Not only did I get to marry the woman of my dreams but I also got to have the burger of my dreams in the same day.

"I could not believe the size of the burger. It was just incredible. Everything has just been amazing. It was the best day ever."

Kerry, also 36, added: "We love burgers and thought it would be a bit of fun. It made the day even more special. We love chocolate too so we also had a chocolate cake."

It took butcher John Baxter a whole day to create and shape the giant burger which weighed 400oz when uncooked.

It had to be cooked for three hours and required three chefs to lift it out of the oven before it could be put into the specially made sesame seeded bun.

The bun alone weighed 5kg and staff had to cut it in half using a saw. The burger also featured 12 iceberg lettuces, 12 onions, 30 tomatoes, 48 slices of dill pickle, 2kg of cheese, a litre of ketchup and a litre of mayonnaise.

A single by-pass, a Jolt, and some flatliner fries.. now you're talking!

Why can't the Bij Dhip be more like that?!

p.s. Apparently, I need a wheelchair.

I have a 1pm meeting up the hill. I haven't tried a BSB burger so I am thinking of getting there at 1130.

No promises, but I may try for a long lunch tomorrow and see if I can make it.
I would rather be Backpacking

Wed or Thur is open for me if it works better for others too. If I miss it, I miss it.
