Ms. Teaz: I'm hesitant to ask this, but here goes....

Just what is your "back room" inventory? There are claims that this discussion is full of rumors. Some say that your inventory is not tawdry or seedy. If that is the case, you should be able to share a representative sampling of the inventory on this forum. Please do try to use delicate language.

However, if a description of your inventory is too risque for this forum, PLEASE do not post it. (We have readers under the age of 18.)

forumreader,

We'll make you a deal seeing as you do have a lot of time of your hands (please do not take offense to this - we just don't have any free time lately). If you come to our shop tomorrow or when you please, we will share with you all of the inventory we have planned for the "back room" so that you can post it here for all to see. We think this is a good idea, and we would be glad to work with you to do so.

We're very tired and going to try to have some quality time together before retiring. Another long day planned for tomorrow.

No, Ms. Teaz, I really don't have a lot of time on my hands. I homeschool my older son, while taking care of my three-year-old and working as an independent translator from home.... Besides, I'm not keen on the thought of bringing my three-year-old into your shop.

But thank you for the offer. Just thought that you might want the chance to clear the air about your inventory.

I think that was an excellent question. It would clear up some of the statements made here. I am planning on trying to find out these answers too. Although, I'm going through the city for that. I don't have an opportunity to the shop for answers yet.

You said:
"These people make up less than 1% of the population and normally don't go to Lingerie Shops for their material. At least I've never seen a report that said so."

"How are sex toys being considered abnormal sexual fantasies."  They're not.  They are USED by peeps who have sexual fantasies, including those who have what our society would call abnormal sexual fantasies--involving violence.

"Drinking can causes the same effects that you have specified and is normally used in those activites yet there is a bar already in the area? Which is worse?"  Drinking does not CAUSE anything save intoxication, loss of motor skills, slowing of response times, alcohol poisoning, and eventually liver disease.  Drinking and driving can cause accidents, which may result in injuries or death to innocent people.  Sure, statistics show that a lot of violent peeps are alcoholics, but they are not limited to perverts, sexual predators, serial killers, pedophiles, etc.

No, I didn't. This is all material from somebody else's post.

Good position. No matter how tame (or risque) your inventory may be, a listing of items in an outlet such as this would only serve to harden attitudes further.

I encourage anyone who has a problem with the shop to do what you should always do, go meet the person face to face and talk with them. I'm willing to bet that MsTeaz is a reasonable, easy going person providing good products and services to honest, normal people. If she isn't, a visit to the shop and a short talk with her will certainly uncover this fact.

Forumreader has had some good questions that Sam and Misty don't seem to want to answer. That leads me to believe that the items they plan to sell really do require a back room. I wonder if the store is approved, who will be able to draw the lines about what is in the back room and what is in the front window. Once they're in, the owners' interpretation of porn is all that is necessary. I think the business owners on Sutter Street do have some real concerns. It's getting more and more difficult to spend time at those businesses, and this would just be one more reason to go elsewhere in Folsom.

Sam and Misty: why don't you consider a shop that would be supported by a majority of the residents?

You are jumping to conclusions. They are tired of being asked the same thing over and over. Go down there see what they have, then come back and post a response.

There are more than 60,000 residents in Folsom. Why should each one of us have to go down and check out the store before we make a decision about whether to support it? If they can't answer simple questions about 1) where they, as the decisionmakers, draw the line between "soft porn" and regular porn, and 2) what some of those items are, then I simply don't trust their good intentions.

While I consider myself just an observer on this....

I do find it a little strange that the owners would avoid answering the one question that seems to be causing all the (remaining) hub-bub and asking folks to "come and see for themselves". 10-15 mins posting info on their wares would just about do it... I've got to guess they've spent a lot more time than that posting other info here...

I don't think all the 60,000 people in Folsom are going to have much of a problem with a upscale Lingerie Shop coming in. Since you are having issues with it check it yourself.

How do you know the majority of folsom residents have a problem with what they are selling?

I agree. I wish they would just post it here, so we can stop all of this FUD.

two points
1) GROW UP!!
if you don't want to visit a store don't visit it.
Sutter street needs all the business it can get . It is not a Family center it is a street of restaurants and antique shops. Nothing for kids anyway so what's the big deal?
2) why show the Opera House for this story. I work in the Opera House (office upstairs at the back) and we have nothing to do with this new store so why show the picture?

What this street really needs is a nice big casino to bring it back to the street as it was. A couple of horse dealers, a few saloons and a brothel or two would make it just like it was in the gold rush days or am I missing the point of "historic Folsom".

I have lived and worked here for the past 7 seven years and in that time all I have seen is complauints and whinges about how the street is failing. No wonder its failing, nobody wants anything here that will bring business.
