That is the process most of us know from the recent state recall------
so what is this great news that waterbaby wants us to read in today's newspaper?
------and just what newspaper is that?-----
the Telegraph had the only story yesterday----that the Farley family is not opposed to the library site chosen.
The article also said the pushers of this stupid recall never discussed anything with them, the Farley family.-----
is there some unknown disclosure to be in the Bee?--------where?---what?
or is this just more delusion smoke???!!!

Well tell us where your would build the library. Where?
You know, if there are sites out there that a library could be built on, other than the park, the city of Folsom should do the research and let the people know what property is available. It is not for us to guess where they might be able to build a library.

It's not as if they sat around one night and said, "Hmmm....where can we put the new library? I know! Farley Field! Nobody cares about that place!"
No, there was more to it than that.
The site was chosen because of it's location, availability, and cost.
This is not worth a recall.

Again your perspective is grossly out of focus. The total number of signatures collected thus far is approximately three reams of paper per person or a total of 12 reams. Basically one and a half boxes. I could take them to the City Clerk with kid's tricycle, not a big truck. Each page has five signatures times 1500 pages per person--3 reams.

Well, we are not ashamed. I will however make you this last minute offer. If you can name one proponet of this recall that advertised for signatures suggesting the loss of the gazebo and/or the train, I will see to it that the signatures are not delivered to the City Clerk this afternoon. However, if you cannot name a single person specifically that did such a thing I would expect you to post an apology. This recall effort has been highly organized with initial training for all signature collectors. The ground rules were clear and I believe you even observed some of our ground rules in action when you visited the Veterans post. If anyone is to be ashamed of their outrageous assumptions and contentions, it should be you. Please let me know if you have a name and I can verify it before 1:30 today.

The people in Folsom are too smart to fall for all your distortion of facts about the chosen library site.
You as well as everyone else knows that YOU and ALL of FOLSOM TAXPAYERS/RESIDENTS cannot afford to pay the millions needed to BUY the necessary amount of land for an ADEQUATE library building and parking even if such land was available!
YOU would deprive Folsom of the BADLY NEEDED library, that has been needed since 1993, with your selfish attitude that the FARLEY family does not even agree with.
But how would YOU know that----you never even consulted them!!!
YOU know that the only loss is a very old ball field, one of nearly 40 ballfields in Folsom.
The rock, the gazebo, the train, the mass of grass, and the OTHER BALLFIELD THERE, all stay with a beautiful building and Veterans Memorial next to the park, with added parking for that OTHER ball field , the zoo, the rodeo, AND the library.
The businesses across Natoma from the park will see an increase in business with the new library there.
YOU have NOT collected enough signatures for this outrage, and never will because the people of Folsom are too smart to be taken in by your selfishness!!!!

Selfishness is not the appropriate word to cover the Lions or the Veterans
Please bring your self up to date on the news Candy..... the attached letter was delivered to the City Clerk, and cc members today at 1:00 p.m.
We do not wish to waste the money or make that an issue of a special election to that the real issue is not heard - the real issue is having the citizens of Folsom, like you and me, vote on whether or not the library is located in Folsom City Lions Park. I am sure you have read the Sacramento Bee in which it was stated that if the people of Folsom choose that the library should be located there - so be it - we are going to give the citizens of Folsom that chance - and not at an extra cost - there will also be an election for two seats on the cc - and we have knowledge of canditates that will be submitting their paperwork to the city clerk when the paper work is available to those candidates in July.
We have taken the "high rode" and are have the decision made in November during a general election. All this stated - I am very sure you all will find something else to complain about.

Steve Miklos, Mayor
City of Folsom
50 Natoma Street
Folsom, CA 95630
Dear Mr. Mayor:
The Joint Veterans Organization (“JVO”) and members of the Lions’ Club of Folsom came
together when their voices were not being heard by four city council members with regard to the
destruction of a Vietnam Memorial, i.e. Marshall Farley Field located in Folsom City Lions Park.
In order to get the attention of the City Council members, a recall petition was initiated and has
been met with success by the Citizens of Folsom. Also, during this time the JVO and Lions have
been joined by concerned citizens who also are processing a petition to put the issue of the library
in Folsom City Lions Park on the ballot in November. The ultimate goal of the JVO and the Lions
members is and has been the decision of the location of the library on Marshall Farley Field being
decided by the Citizens of Folsom, not the Folsom City Council.
During the last few months, the majority of the council members have had the opportunity to stop
the recall and its $250,000 + cost by allowing the voters to decide this issue in November. Your
reaction both privately and publicly is to allow the money to be spent and no further discussion on
the library site is necessary.
As Veterans and Lions organizations, we have served this community for longer than it has been a
city, and we are very concerned over bad decisions by the City Council and their unnecessary
expenditures. Although, we have the signatures necessary for the recall to put the issue on the
November ballot, we will be the ones to forego the recall and save the money. The signatures
for allowing the people to speak in November will be submitted to the City Clerk by the
deadline. We are proud to do for the City what you will not. We will also support two new
candidates for the City Council in November.
Page Two
We believe we have obtained our first goal, and that is to obtain the attention of the City
Councilmen, our second goal - to obtain the right for the voters to vote on the issue of the
Library in Folsom City Lions Park in November.
Very truly yours,
ROBERT VITT

We very much appreciate that the Vets and Lions have come to ther senses after all this turmoil.
Voting in November is the way to make your wishes known so that the whole city does not have to pay the price.
Maybe now, after over 10 years, all Folsom can finally look forward to enjoying an adequate library in the near future.
Thank you from all of us!!!

I have been associated with this recall for nearly 6 months and I have posted to this site in some fashion over the last 3 or 4 months. I have always (and will continue) to the best of my ability to post the facts as I know them. Afterall I can only be as trustworthy as my word. So let me tell you this:
Over the last 6 months my colleagues in both the Lions and the Veterans have positively considered my counselling. I don't mean to make this personal, but the treatment by the mayor and his three hinchmen of me and my colleagues have been nothing less than disgusting and showed a total lack of respect for upstanding members of the Folsom community. My personal recommendation in this matter was voted in the negative by both the members of the Lions and the Veterans. Had they followed my advice, the petitions would have been turned in today and I believe there is well over enough to meet the requirement. In ways I have mixed emotions over their collective decision. I do believe we have the necessary signatures to put the measure on the November ballot and we will continue to work with the group collecting those signatures. However, in all candor I wanted to see members of our group turn the collected signatures in to the city council meeting Tuesday a week ago. Please take heart that the majority of the Veterans and the Lions want to do the right thing with this community and they do not always listen to an outsider.
As for will the issue go away in the event of a positive vote for placement in November, I am confident that will be the end of the opposition. Nearly all of us have devoted time, blood, and in some cases the ultimate sacrifice to see to it that our democracy reigns supreme. If the majority of the Folsom community wants the library in the park, my personal belief is that you will see the Lions and the Veterans in active participation of construction and dedication. We simply don't think the majority wants to give up portions of the park in exchange for a library.
It has been pleasant and I will continue to work and advise the Lions and the Veterans on finishing the job. I hope they have made the right decision.
