What Steve said at the city council meeting, I do not believe. He actually is saying that some people went and picked up a lot of his signs and magically put them on the high traffic areas the morning of election. That is such a stupid statement. Everyone knows that his campaign did it, like everyone knows that OJ murdered his wife and Goldman.

I have said enough.
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

The signs had an affect on me, only probably not the desired one.

I think it's kind of shallow to take a small issue like that and disregard the whole body of work.

I didn't say anything about it causing me to disregard a whole body of work. Au contraire! (I know, don't use foreign expressions if you don't know how to spell them). Just another straw on the 'ole camel.

As for the conspiracy theory, it seems like it would be pretty stupid for a campaign to steal (or worse, print) signs from an opponent and place them at the most visible locations in the city just to make it appear that the other campaign broke the rules. First, the whole premise of more and bigger signs is that it somehow sways voters; otherwise campaigns wouldn't spend money on signs (and we wouldn't have a hundreds of billions of dollar advertisin industry in the US). So why would a campaign purposely put an opponent's signs in the most prominant locations? Second, I doubt there are very many people who know the sign oprdinance well enough to recognize when signs are illegally placed, so the only ill-effect of placing your own signs illegally is some after-the-fact bad press (and maybe a fine).

Seems to me there is lot's of incentive to place your own signs illegally, and very little incentive to move someone else's.
