..... now about Paula... what the heck is wrong with that woman? she did the dumbest thing I've ever seen her do on the show when she was reviewing them for the one song she started rambling on about the second song... which they hadn't even performed yet! I think she was either high or is getting really dingy and stupid lately. Listening to her incoherently babble when reviewing the candidates...I could barely figure out if she was saying she liked or disliked them - hard to figure out what she's trying to say

I once hear Simon say it is difficult for the judges to hear what the contestants say during the feedback portion. I've wondered if they have problems hearing what is said, is the same true for what is sung?

I wonder if AI is a bit like ice skating in that the judges watch the practices and form an opinion then. Sometimes you hear a comment like "you nailed it in practice, but this was a train-wreck." That could also explain why sometimes a contestant gets ripped for a performance that I thought was pretty good, or like Jason, gets praised for something that was really bad.

my guess is these artists are being promoted by the producers of the show, coincidentally both Dolly Parton and Mariah Cary have new albums out right now - what a great way to give them nationwide publicity

And you're forgetting Mariah.

I don't know what they're trying to do. On one hand, they criticize someone for taking a chcne, then for playing it safe. They sound too old fashioned, they made it their own, they took liberties with it.

They should have some REAL song writers out there. Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Gamble and Huff, Harry Nilson, Neil Young, Willie Nelson and more.

I think next week's gonna be childhood TV faves: Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, the Theme from Barney, ....that's all I could think of.

now you're talking about some really great artists!

I was just listening to Willie Nelson today... his latest album called Countryman. Don't let the title fool you... the entire album is reggae!

He actually has a new one out, called 'Moment of Forever'. The title track is a beautiful song written by Kris Kristofferson. He also does covers Dave Matthews and Bob Dylan (You gotta serve somebody).

Today is Willie's 75th birthday.

The problem is...they want music that is current and popular.....how do you turn Neil Diamond into something current and popular? Some music can only be sung by the person we're familiar with. Ms. Carey I can see....she's still somewhat mainstream. Weber? Phantom of the Opera? I hear that music on the radio all the time......

Next week is supposedly Rock Allstars or something like that. When do they get to do current music. Jason Castro needs Jack Johnson song David Cook needs Eddie Vedders "Big Hard Sun".. love that song. David A not sure and Seyesha well she will probably be gone next week..

Thats great to hear about next week! Should be good and I agree with your picks for Jason and David Cook

Archuletta should sing an opera or a gospel song - thats his style

Sayesha should do some motown, she'd be awesome singing some good songs from that genre
