I am very bummed about Barnes and Noble, PF Changs, and Boudins. I have been looking forward to those 3 for a long time. I had heard Boudins was opening around Feb, so I am very disapointed to hear I guess that is not true. Veteran, do you know is there any chance of Boudins or PF Changs still coming?

Also, I know a lot of people are disapointed that Sports Authority is moving from the current location to Palladio, however it is going to be the largest store in Northern California from what I heard, and will be adding in two departments (I know hunting/guns was one, I think the other was fishing but I'm not positive) as well as have a full rental shop in it for Ski's. snowboards, etc. So I am looking forward to it, as it is now when I need something from there I usually have to go to Citrus Heights because Folsom doesn't have the item I need.

I noticed in Roseville, where the MCCormick and Schmidt restaurant shopping center is, that it seems disjointed and you don't see many customers except at the coffee shop, the restaurants and Whole Foods. All the other stores have one or two lookie loos and I don't see how the occupants afford the rent to even have a store. This is why Palladio is having issues. Johnny Rockets sounds good, but the food is worse than any junk food restaurant around. Folsomites wouldn't mind paying for a decent restaurant that had quality food. They should have put in a chic -fil-a or something more suitable. Also, an ice cream parlor for bdays would be nice, like the old Swensen's. Just my two cents.

Your comments about the Fountains in Roseville not doing well dont exactly agree with this article that ran in the Bee last weekend. http://www.sacbee.co...led-waters.html

Looks like they are doing pretty well...

The Fountains has NEVER been dead as you are describing when I've been there, except perhaps on a cold wintery night closing time at 10 pm.

Yeah, the Fountains is unique because a lot of it's restaurants operate with bars, so the center's hours of operation run from around 9/10am-midnight/1am. Which is exactly what they hoped to accomplish. Go on the weekend after the stores have closed, and there's literally people all over the place. Although the stores are closed, it increases the visibility and people will return during the day, so it's constantly being travelled.

And go to Yard House and you'll see 3 hour waits. Whole Foods is always packed. Some stores have closed, but almost all have been replaced. They definitely aren't struggling.

And the only reason Sports Authority is relocating is that it's old store is the old Sportsmart format and is only 32K square feet while most of it's stores are 40K square feet. It's new store will be 45K.

Yeah, speaking of the Fountains, I was there last night. It was packed!!

I walked down from Peets over to Coldwater Creek (& drove through the entire complex when leaving), and there were groups of people shopping in every store. I actually had to weave in & out of the aisles to get by all the people.

By the time the stores closed (8 pm), all the benches along the walkways & around the water features were filled with people. I even bypassed the gelato shop because the line was nearly out the door! The restaurants looked very busy also, especially over by the Yard House. I thought I saw a few new restaurants (Dave & Busters, Mikuni, Noodles & Company, Tres). I think the days of The Fountains being dead are over.

I had a nice long talk with a worker at Coldwater Creek. She raves about the "mall" management. She used to work at the Galleria & would never go there when she was off, but now, she frequently comes to The Fountains when she's not working. She was somewhat surprised when I asked her when CWC was coming to Folsom. CWC signs 10 year leases. It is possible that the Arden Mall location will close, and a new store will open in Folsom. Roseville actually does a higher volume than Arden, even though they have more square footage.

Interestingly, she said The Fountains started with more retail shops than restaurants, which is the opposite of Palladio.

I never noticed this before, but it looks like they now have offices or retail on the 2nd floor, above CWC.

Oh, and the butcher at Whole Foods said Oct 1 for the Folsom store to open.

I was reading the August '11 issue of Style Magazine , and found some news about Whole Foods.
"Features of the new store will include a beer garden with exterior enclosed seating, along the tasty food fare, a stage to showcase local artists, and a culinary specialist who will teach customers how to cook bulk items with six or fewer ingredients."

Sounds like a slightly different twist than the usual WF. And less than 30 days until it opens. :D:

So does that mean that the new Chicago Fire Pizza is open? Or just coming soon?

I drove through the complex tonight looking for Chicago Pizza, and anything else new, and could not find it.

It be great if Eric could show us the schematic for the new business locations (if it hasn't been updated on line already).

That area is still closed off with fences so I wasn't able to confirm that last night.

The physical building where CF is going in is facing E Bidwell. There is a big sign above the front door...
