The owners could definitely benefit from this feedback (if they care to find out and make improvements that is). All these reports are what have kept me away from the place, I really wanted to try them out, but so far everything I read tells me to stay away and spend my money elsewhere.

I have no idea what they use, but it ain't real alcohol... It clearly says 'Vodka' and 'Rum' on the menu though... it's sounded just like some kind of fortified wine, he said it was about 16%-17% alcohol.

We went there shortly after they opened and we not impressed at all.
While they took very good care of us (had a large group there for a birthday) service-wise, the food was mediocre at best. They don't give you nearly enough options nor are the portion sizes very generous. They just don't have it down (yet?) like places such as the Melting Pot.
If you want a fantastic experience with fondue, go to a place called Geja's in Chicago (ever been there, former Chicagoans?)......THAT is the ultimate fondue experience!
So, unless they take some advice and the constructive criticism like that on this board, I don't think they'll be around very much longer.

We are thinking about going to Nevada City for our anniversary. Fell in love with that town on the way back from camping. Do you recommend a B&B there too?

I gave La Dip a try when they first opened. But, I will not be going back. I'd rather make my own fondue at home after that experience. Too bad, I was really hoping it was comparable to La Fondue. Oh well.

Is that the place on Armitage in Lincoln Park? If so, I went there one time and enjoyed it. Also really enjoyed the live Spanish guitar.
Haven't be to La Dip and went to The Melting Pot a few years ago and was less than impressed, especially for the price. Don't think I'll try it.

Yep! That's the one!
We'll have to try the ones the others have recommended above one of these days!
