Different skin types need different schedules. I don't stick with morning or night, but usually target for after a workout whenever that falls in the day. I have very dry skin, and multiple showers destroys it. bad.gif

The kids seem to prefer nights -- to focus on fixing hair all morning. On weekends or post-morning workouts they do morning. bad.gif

Husband has non-dry skin and showers at least twice a day. Three if there is a workout in between. That IS a lot of water. bad.gif

I'm with tessica - either morning or night - just depends on what is happening during the day. My skin is very dry. In Florida, we had a shower pad in the backyard installed off the back side corner of the house. It was perfect for a hot shower after getting out of the pool at night. Everyone had them. We even had some neighbors from New Zealand who would take their showers without their swim suits on. Kinda strange.

"In Europe, almost no one showers/bathes daily."

And they braid their underarm hair too! YUK! There are some smelly people there!

Wow...I had no idea folks shower routinely twice a day or more!!!

Just mornings for me on account of some horrible bead-head that has plagued me my whole life. I'll skip if I'm late...and where a cap. Otherwise in the evenings or a second time after a work out or extra dirty day...

I wonder if people will continue bathing so frequently when water metering starts.....

I've told my husband to shower at the gym as often as possible. smile.gif

Seriously, think of all the water we use on a day-to-day basis. It's mindblowing. Metering definitely helps to conserve. Not too many people won't care and leave their sprinkler system going during the winter.

I lived with my grandparents as a kid. I remember having to take a bath on Wed and Sunday evenings. I told my daughter that (she has two boys) and she thought it was disgusting. I HATED bath day when I was a kid. Bolt.gif

Why do you think it is - that people in Europe don't take as many baths or showers?

I think there's a number of reasons.

One is that they aren't as obessed with the clean, brand-spankin' new look. Their streets are old and worn, their houses are old and worn and they just live with a lot of things around them that aren't shiny-new, unlike what we are used to in our new country. They often shop from local markets where they get local food that's not all packaged prettily and bred for looks.

I also think that they aren't as wasteful as we Americans are. I cannot imagine the majority of the world, not only Europeans, using the sheer amound of water and other resources that we do. Natural resourses are abundant here and we don't have to work as hard to get them, nor pay as much to use them, as most of the rest of the world.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but these are the two that come to me.

I don't think a person could do that by themselves. That would mean someone would have to braid it for them... YIKES! wacko.gif

Basic survival - it's hard to get fresh water in Europe. It's stored stagnant in oaken barrels where it breeds black plague, consumption, and other vile pestilences and poxes.

hey, you guys, don't make us look ignorant! some of you must have traveled enough in europe to know that no one braids their armpit hair or has a hard time getting fresh water (at least not while the glaciers are still there).

europeans think americans are frightened of their own sexuality and prudish about their bodies. they think we are afraid of our natural odors and have to cover everything over. its a cultural thing. the english are more like us on some of these things, much different from the continental types tongue.gif
