Are there any traffic lights with cameras in Folsom? If so, where?

Yes there are.

Why do you need to know? You should be driving as though it didn't matter to you.

Terry, Do you know anything about that program, where the Folsom PD, lends residents radar guns for a couple weeks, to catch speeders?

I once spoke with the officer in charge. He told me they get lots of inquiries about the program, but few people take advantage of it.

Call the Traffic unit of Folsom PD 916-351-3553. Don Lee is the officer in charge. Will train and set you up for radar gun.

Actually, if you take a lawn chair and an old hair dryer (minus the cord) and clip board and sit out there and point the hair dryer at cars, they'll slow down, too (I kid you not!).

Hmm... If I saw someone do that, I wonder if I could call it in as someone threatening cars with a gun... hmm.. Remember, it doesn't have to be a real gun to get charged with a crime in that case... if you threaten someone with what they think is a weapon, then you can be in some real trouble, and pointing a gun-like thing at a car is kinda threatening.

I'd probably call the cops and complain anyway. If some idiot wants to play cop, he gets what he deserves.

Actually there are two of which I am aware. They're posted as such, so it shouldn't be that hard to find them, unless of course you don't read roadsigns anyway, which would explain why you would run red lights, speed, etc.

Sorry Boden, I wasn't kidding about the cameras. The City announced them in advance of their installation.

Why apologize if you weren't wrong?

They must not be in any area where I drive, and I could've sworn I read a piece within the last year saying that we had none and the PD and Council did not want any.

Sounds like a stealth installation....

So where are these cameras? What intersections?

I always make left turns when running red lights so they won't work with me.... biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif

If Terry comes back with another evasion answer, throwing out the, "Why should you care," or "You should drive like they all do," answers, then he's still pulling chains and there aren't any. smile.gif

I think I saw one of those disposable 35mm cameras duct-taped to a traffic light over by Home Depot. But it only works if there's a cop there to push the button. laugh.gif

They have cameras setup for the turn lane too. I saw a nice documentary on stop light cameras on the Discovery channel about a year ago and basically unless your doing over 150 mph they'll get you.
