Random pizza thoughts:
I am not a huge pizza fan, as it is generally made up of things that are not healthy (refined carbs, saturated fat, cholesterol, etc.), but I am weak, so will gorge on the stuff every now and then.
Chicago Fire is my favorite. Not too much cheese.
Classico is pretty good, too.
Has anyone tried Amici's in the Bay Area?
There used to be one across the street from me. Thin crust, kinda burnt on the bottom. I have a friend in Maui who visits once or twice a year. She always hits up Amici's when she gets here.
I haven't tried Zelda's but was told the crust is similar to Uno's in SF and Chicago, that kind of biscuity, flaky stuff.
My mom is the only person I know who hated Italy. She said, "Everything is old, the streets are made of stones, we had to walk everywhere, it was full of tourists (including her), and I couldn't find authentic pizza anywhere!" I had to break the news that what she had in Italy WAS the authentic stuff. What did she expect, ham and pineapple?
When my daughters were small, I used to buy them sauce, cheese, dough and pepperoni, and let them make the messiest and tastiest pizzas I've ever had. I miss those days.
