This is completely anecdotal, but it seems to me that Parkway homes are about $50-100K less than a similar homes elsewhere. Every time I see that I wonder if it is because of the HOA.

WOW it seems like a lot of people are upset. The art work is small, tasteful and blends into the house from afar. I hope the HOA reads this topic! It appears most, if not all of my neighbors received notice for one thing or another. Again We love living in the Parkway and feel that the HOA overall does a good job but, let the little things go like the colors of kids play structures and having your garage door up more then three hours when your working .
Can you hear the “little boxes” theme song from Weeds playing in the background?

If that price difference is correct*, then one should jump all over that opportunity!
* It isn't

I cannot wait till the day where somone takes the HOA's to the CA Supreme Court and HOA power loses bigtime and it sets a MAJOR precedent. The BS about "Hoas protect Property value" is a bunch of lies. If that is the case, then why are the majority of foreclosures in an HOA community??? Why is it that the overall property values in an HOA based community versus a Non Hoa community has taken a DRAMMATIC downturn???

Calm down. Many people love HOA communities. Relax. Breathe. That's it. OK, you're better now. No charge.

So what I'm guessing is Mr. Snooty gets in his BMW or Mercedes and decides to harass us valley folks.

Based on the attitudes and dealings with Parker Development and the HOA, we vowed never to live in a Parker Development home again. I totally support HOAs, but I think these guys are a little power hungry.
Not only that, they keep waking up every now and then and start issuing notices....sometimes they even issue ultimatums....quite often, I ignore them....and they don't bother.
So, not sure what's going on in the HOA office...they could be on drugs you know

They probably have some kind of quota system...kinda like cops. They know people are violating...if you don't write-up someone for a blade of grass out of place, you're not doing your job, I guess.

so what happends if you dont comply with their demands? I can see the positives of a HOA cause there is always ONE house in the neighborhood with the couch and beer cans on the porch lol... but for freaking if you leave your trash can on the street? or if your garage door is left open (is that really a issue with the HOA?) i dont really know too much about it since i have never owned a home.... but it seems like a big pain in the ash!

Oh, they can fine you and generally irritate you to death. Not sure what happens if you don't pay the fines though.
BTW...had one of your take and bake pizzas the other day...was pretty good, I must say. My wife bought it or I would have said 'hi' if I was there.

I believe only a small portion of the Parkway is in the boundary for Oak Chan.

Not true, the entire neighborhood is now in Parkway..THere may be an exception to some of the new Parkway because those kids had to attend Theodore Judah before the boundaries were changed. There's nothing wrong with Oak Chan, just stating that the scores are lower than other high performing schools in the area like Empire Ranch, Gallardo and Folsom Hills...
