Dear Bigeater,
Thank you for comments and especially thank you for not giving up on us!
My partner and I bought O'Connor's Catering in Carmichael, February of last year. In January we opened O'Connor's Santa Maria Grill and Catering in Orangevale. We are excited to be so close to Folsom as that is where both of us live.
We are passionate about cooking over open fire and while we have been doing it for catering for some time we indeed are fine tuning our product to suit it for our restaurant.
I must say I was surprised to find a thread about us so soon. I just want to thank all of you that have visited us in the past and trust me when I say we are doubling our efforts to bring the finest in open fire barbeque to the Sacramento valley.
If anyone would like to provide additional comments please don't hesitate to email me at:
chris@woodpit.com

p.s. Bigeater, make sure you contact me, i'd like to do something nice for your patronage!

My dad would take me when i was little to the carmichael one (where I grew up) and buy me turkey and beef jerky! I LOVED it!! Do you guys still make the jerky?
<3

They were at Folsom Wine and Jazz last night. Good stuff!

We ate at O'Connors Santa Maria Grill 2 weeks ago and it was horrible. They really need to improve their food if they are to last in Orangevale.

1. The slaw they shoved inside the pulled pork sandwich tasted so much like vinegar you could not taste any of the pork. Just dip the pork in vinegar and forget about the slaw if you don't care about taste. They slaw was so wet it completed mushed the bun.

2. The tri tip was not freshly cooked and Sliced to order. It almost felt like it was sliced and reheated. The meat was overcooked and browned on both sides of the slices. It was also very dry.

2. The French fries were frozen, not fresh and they tasted like freezer.

3. The Potato salad was not made fresh, it must be shipped in and you can absolutely tell it tasted like any other sour cream based potato salads you buy in bulk at costco.

4. The most important aspect of the meal was the BBQ sauce. This sauce was soo sweet it taste very strong almost like pure molassas and brown sugar.

I was very disappointed and I am not trying to be harsh but they need to know this in order to imporve their food quality.

They catered my daughter's wedding recently. We arranged a drop-off with throw-away tins. It was yummy. We had too many leftovers to eat it all, so wish I would have remembered to bring portion sized containers with me to give some away to guests.

They recently catered our childrens school fund raiser. The food tasted very fresh and flavorful. The garlic mashed potatoes were a hit, the pasta, poultry and beef were equally good. Best wishes and luck to them. . .

Try Lucilles Smokehouse BBQ in Rocklin instead of O'Connors Santa Maria Grill.

Lucilles is good, but totally overpriced. My hubby makes comparable BBQ in the backyard for a quarter of the price. The only thing missing are those to-die-for muffins that they serve with the meal.
