Also we need a bear patrol.

I thought the folsom prison did have an air siren they can use for notifying local resident sof escapes?
Though I would probably think it is their normal shift change horn sounding off if I heard it.
I would probably find out quicker by getting an automated phone call from the school --if something like that happened.
I know that Folsom has a volunteer police group--I would have thought they also have a volunteer firemens group as well.
Heh--anyone?

They do have a siren, but I don't think it's for notifying the public. I believe it is to notify guards and prisoners alike that they are going into lockdown. If it was meant to notify the civilian residents, they would need the sirens to be in the neighborhoods, not just on the prison grounds.

How long has it been since somebody escaped from Folsom Prison?
I believe the last escape was in the 90's. two idiots with like only 3 months until probation escaped from the minimum security facility to party, they got caught trying to break back in with a bottle of vodka partially consumed.

They may use them for shift change or what have you, but I have heard the sirens and then heard about a lockdown on the evening news.

Hi! I live in Orangevale and I had cops come to my house last night telling me not to answer my door because a prisoner had escaped. I haven't seen anything on the news, but I did see helicopters last night with their search lights on... does anyone have any information?? I think the prison was on lock-down on Sunday.
Just curious!
Just curious!
I had lots of helicopter activity around 4 to 5 pm. Also had FPD circling the street........ Clearly they were looking for something on both sides of the river. I'm sure it was a little before 5 because I was looking to see if it was the Channel 3 news helicopter swinging over to get some cool shots of the lakes for the 5 pm news and weather. I just love that! It's fun to see our beautiful area from the air like that, especially in real time.
Knowing the past helps deciphering the future.

Hmm, with nothing in the news about it, maybe some prangster called in "an escaped prisoner" threat, and the FPD responded accordingly and after discovering it was a hoax are just staying mum about it.

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a
charm.
Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad.
Homer: Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: It's just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you?
Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.

Actually there have been escapes fairly recently. We just don't hear about them, because as you said they are "walk off's" from the camp at Folsom. Less than a year left of their sentance. A couple years ago there was an Officer sitting near the 50 onramp at Folsom Blvd. We stopped and asked about it. He said somebody walked off and they knew he was long gone, probably picked up by family, but they were out there for the publics benefit. They don't normally put the walk offs in the news.
Also the sirens are for lunch and when the inmates have yard time. They are not shift change and they don't indicate lock down, but if something happens like a fight they do use them.

The last escape I remember was sometime last year. The guy stole a bike from a guy riding it down natoma street and got caught when the guards tracked him on the gps that was attached to the bike lol. Also the horn going off means different things depending on how many times it goes off in a row.
