Well, yeah--but if I go look at one of these bikes would you or Chris V go look with me? Give it a test drive--tell me if it is a decent bike? Maybe drive it over to my place and drop it off to stay-- 'till I'm licensed ( after I pay for it ofcourse) ?

I just don't want to get screwed, ya know?

Sure, I could help you with that

Yeah, any of us can help you.

You can head for the DMV and get a learner's permit, too. Don't have to wait to take the course to be on a bike. Supta you.

I fully agree - Supermom should go to the DMV and get the book and study - and the most - absolutely most - important thing that needs to be done first and foremost is go take the MSF course to see if she likes riding etc - plus it will cover half the test.... once thats done, then go looking for a bike to buy

Good idea!

I hadn't thought of going down to the dmv for the book.

You don't even need to go that far for the book. But you do for the permit. You have to pass the written part of the test to get the learner's permit.

OK, seriously this time. This is the most all-purpose motorcycle I have ever seen. It wasn't available in California last year but made it this year with some emissions mods. If I were shopping for a new bike for my first bike, this would be it.

Kawasaki Versys

My husband just got a Ninja 250 for his short commute. I know, I know, it's a girl's bike (he actually did buy it from a girl), but he just wanted a small, not very powerful bike that gets 70 MPH. And it's cheap.

Well, okay, I still think the Versys looks like a peach of a bike. Sure a lot more beginnery than the SV650 for instance. That Vulcan with the EX500 engine is okay too.
