So everyone bitches about the mosque but bemoans the lack of kabob joints?

Had lunch at Curry Club today. Very tasty! Nicely decorated, friendly (albeit clumsy) service, and a quality affordable buffet.

My first hope was that it was going to be a multi-ethnic Curry Club, serving Thai and Malay curries. But it is strictly Indian focused.

The dinner menu looks nice, too. Starring the usual Indian fare.

Website is listed as http://www.curryclub1.com/ but seems to be just a parking spot for now.

Twas good lunching with ya compadre'

That was pretty good Indian food and this place gets my thumbs up.
I look forward to taking Ronda there in the future to try some of the items they had on the dinner menu to explore more of the cuisine they have to offer. I like those spicey yet sweet flavors in the curry's that they make, good stuff!

not bad for only day 3

Looks like the Intel crowd. I recognize some of those in DavBurr's picture.

"emptied" in the evening so I hear.
The Menu Price does not fit well with Folsom, a conservative spending city.

All you can eat buffet was $9. I thought that was quite reasonable. Including naan and chutneys.

$9.00 IS very reasonable for a typical Indian Buffet.
Pick up a Menu from the Curry Club and you may understand my comment about the Menu Price.
If the Curry Club is located in Manhattan, Beverly Hills or even Nob Hill ...it might be OK.

My $.02

Just tried Curry Club for lunch today. Unfortunately they were out of takeout menus, so I didn't have a look at their menu prices. But $9 for lunch, while a bit more than I like, was worth it. I'll be back.

Good food! Lots of spices, very flavorful, and most entrees were pleasantly hot (spice wise). The food remained warm, thanks to covered containers. (Secret: Hang the lid from the hook above the container while getting your food.) One thing that made me a bit uncomfortable, though, was the spoons were kept outside of the heated container, on a plate. That would be fine if the spoons were clean, but invariably the spoon ends up with some food on it. So the food on the spoon cools, but then gets mixed in with the hot food by the next person. I'm not sure how sanitary that is; maybe it's fine.

The Naan was brought to our table before I had a chance to ask for it unbuttered; I really don't like greasy, buttery Naan. But other than that, it was good. Puffy and soft without being undercooked.

No Tandoori, but there were a few entrees I hadn't had elsewhere (Chili Chicken and Zucchini Masala were two of them). There were about 8 entrees, which was just about right. Since I liked every one of them, I ended up eating way too much. biggrin.gif

I hope Curry Club can make it. I don't think Folsom can support FOUR Indian restaurants, but I'd certainly like to see Curry Club end up as one of the survivors (along with Taj India, of course).

They're putting in an Afghani restaurant in EDH (Town Center).

I am going to approach this one with caution because the other Bamiyan restaurant in Greenback was waaaaaay overpriced and the quality was fair at best. They are famous for their wine bar, though.

They really need to properly repaint the exterior around their sign. It looks pretty unappealing from the outside, but once you go inside, it looks nice enough.
I tried a to go order recently and the food was delicious. The only problem was that it was nearly $20 for an entree and some rice. It was a large amount of food that was enough for 2-3 meals, but I would have rather had a single plate serving for a much lower price.
It's probably a decent price after you divide the price by the amount of servings, but it wasn't what I was looking for. Luckily I was on the way home so I could put the excess in the refrigerator for another day.

If anyone is surprised that this place is packed, hang out at the Safeway on Prairie City some time. The Intel crowd needs a place to eat. biggrin.gif

At lunch hour on a weekday in Folsom, every restaurant - good or bad - is packed...
