I went too! My daughter doesn't come with me anymore (she's in college) so I decided to be an old lady and go alone. We always go to the start at the park. I think they started a couple of minutes early. The girls with the llamas were practacally running to keep up so I'm sure they had to slow down before they got far. This is one of the small town things I love. I'm so glad they still do it.

It was awesome! I love it.

My job was to walk the street to help with crowd control and safety. I also had some American flags and flag stickers to give out, some rodeo ads, answered questions for folks, and got to run with the bulls.

When giving my safety message to small groups (stand up and step back when the bulls are coming), I'd tell the kids that they were going to see 'Longhorns'. I'd ask, "Who can tell me why they call them 'longhorns'? About half the time, both the kids and the grown ups would shrug, or say, "I don't know." Every now and then some kid would say, "Because the have long horns?" It was funny to see the adults' reactions. It was like, "Ohhh, I get it!"

I think for folks who arrived shortly before the event, the cattle drive probably didn't seem like much, but for the folks who got there about 11 got to see the crowd build, the folks dressed in period costumes strolling Sutter, quite a few gunfights in the street, the 'running of the bulls', the 'trick your pony' activities and others, they seemed to love it.

I believe the delay was caused by the late arrival of Corvettes. Last year, it started at 1130 and hit Sutter just before noon.

I saw rlsliger, but don't recall any other myfolsom folks.

I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a little slice of American small-town life.
