Even if I choose to not read a thread, I have to see the titles -- some of which are pretty arrogant, baiting, and or insulting. I really don't need to see that crap. Frankly, I'd much prefer a system in which people have to sign up to see the political threads (rather than opt out of seeing them) so guests and lurkers and newbies don't get a negative impression of the forum based on a few trolling threads.

FWIW, unregistered visitors do not see the politics forums. If there were an easy way to make politics opt-in, I'd consider it, but this system should work too.

Johncam, your viewing experience is now spin-free!

I fully understand.... it's kind of like trying not to look at a car accident as you go by....but we all still stare at the carnage

I think this is a great idea John, it will really help reduce some folks stress levels and although I'm tempted to sign up - instead I'm just going to try and ignore the trolls as revolutionist suggested yesterday

putting the trolls on ignore works out pretty well too

Please, please tell me how to put trolls (who shall remain nameless) on ignore.
I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

Under "Options" on the left side (orange box in my case) is "Ignore User"

The IGNORE feature is the only way I can still read this board. There are a few posters that are hell bent on trolling every topic, no matter how inane, and politicizing it into a blame the "stinkin libs", Muslim extreamists, enviro-Nazis, or teachers unions.

Now, if there was a way that I could not have to read the post by users on my IGNORE list, even when they are quoted by another user, that would be a feature I would be interested in.

Also, it would be interesting to see the stats for which posters make it onto other's IGNORE lists; ie Top Ignored posters. Perhaps then, they will get the hint.

That's too bad, I like reading your posts, but I understand as you seem to take it to heart too much.

Yeah, and ironically I lean more twords their own guy - go figure. I just ask a lot of questions and the defensive party lemmings get all pissy.

I used to get a lot out of those threads, learning stuff from both sides (sometimes they even changed my own opinions), I liked it when people would take the time to compose their thoughts and opinions and post them intelligently I even like EDF's stuff sometimes.. - but these days its mostly you know who out there polluting the thread with party bombs and it gets so diluted with hate and anger it loses its original meaning and turns into a rag fest instead of debate

cripes you can't even start a thread with out instant kerplunking happening almost immediately - it seems pointless anymore and it just makes one become angry instead of educated.

Let me know when the threads get back to their original meaning and contain good info about the candidates instead of smear campaigns and I'll get back into it.
