I'm in Parkway also and I pay $102.95 monthly.

When I lived in a different neighborhood and had a built in pool, I paid more than neighbors without pools.

I emailed the City of Folsom when I moved to Empire Ranch from Broadstone in January. Here is their explanation for the higher bill. Mine is $108.15 (with a pool).

When the City annexed the portion of the City now referred to as the East Area, one of the conditions of annexation included securing additional water supplies for serving this new area. Additionally, the cost of this new water supply could not be paid for by the existing residents. The developers negotiated two water supply contracts. The first was with Southern California Water Company (So. Cal Water) for 5,000 acre-feet. This resulted in a $12 surcharge for every residential connection within the East Area. The second contract was for Central Valley Project water supplies of 7,000 acre-feet. The water supply under the second contract wasn’t utilized until last year. The additional surcharge for the use of this second water supply is currently being evaluated. The City will initiate a public notification process prior to any additional surcharges.

I hope I answered your question. Please feel free to contact me at 351-3502 if you have additional questions.

Thank you,

Todd Eising

FOR EAST AREA CUSTOMERS ONLY
Part of the water supply for East Area customers comes from the Fazio Water. The remaining supply comes from the Southern California Water Company (SCWC). Currently, there is a $12 surcharge to East Area customers for the SCWC water.

As water use in the East Area approaches 27,000 acre-feet, which surpasses the allotted amount of SCWC water available for use, those customers will be subject to an additional surcharge for use of the Fazio Water. An additional surcharge for the Fazio Water will be charged to East Area customers according to the amount
of water used. This additional surcharge is part of the original agreement that allowed development to occur in the East Area. The City will notify East Area customers prior to the application of a Fazio Water use surcharge.

I wish more of you on this forum would look into so you understand the TERRIBLE deal we made with Aerojet a few years ago. In a nutshell we had 5600 AF water that was sold to Aerojet before most of us were here and that agreement was going to expire in 2036.

We agreed to give away for eternity 2600 AF of water, from our first rights of water on the American River, for getting back 2900 AF now. Short term its a gain but over time its a huge loss.

If we got all that water back we wouldn't need the Fazio water and you in the East Area wouldn't have to pay that surcharge.

I'm in ER and just got mine yesterday. It went up another dollar and is now $103.95.
Why is it different in different neighborhoods?

That is what we pay currently.
