No, I saw a couple of laser discs of Action Jackson on the shelf too...

I haven't been around for a while, so I'm coming into this a little late.
We live within walking distance of this BB, and so were very saddened to see it go. We just finished trying out their monthly pass program (it luckily ended a few days before the store closed). It really worked out well for us, since whenever we needed a new move, we'd just walk there and get it. Another advantage over the mail-in variety was that double, triple, and quadruple disk sets all count as one. But now that this one's closed, we probably won't use the in-store monthly program again.
So, we just signed up a few weeks ago for BB's new mail-in program. The 2 in-store free passes per month are nice, but they don't make up for the slow service. Netflix averaged 2-3 day turnaround time. Typically, we'd send in a movie on Monday, and get a new one Wednesday or Thursday. Blockbuster has been much slower. Perhaps they'll eventually get the kinks out and improve. But for now, I'll be sticking with Netflix for the foreseeable future.

As far as censorship is concerned, I don't think they are doing that anymore. I went to Blockbuster yesterday, and saw 'Badder Santa' whichis supposed to be more offensive thatn 'Bad Santa', and an unrated version of 'The Girl Next Door', on which they bragged in bold letters, 'Get ready for more skin, more sex, and more laugh'.
As a warning to parents, this movie is about a teenage boy who is thrilled to find out that a famous pornstar has just moved in next door.
It is obviously aimed at teens, and the new unrated version is bound to be flying off the shelves with parents not reading the cover or understanding what the movie is about.

Netflix is the best. My son has been with them from day one. They are based out of the south Los Gatos area, I think.
A VETERAN
Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life".
That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Lets face it, we don't need Blockbuster, Hollywood video or Netflix, only our ultra efficient government should run our video stores and they should increase our taxes to do it!
And hey, if we don't like that movie, we can always vote for another in 4yrs!

About censorship...
Blockbuster edited their versions of Requiem for a Dream (an amazing movie, by the way), primarily by changing camera angles, and believe me it subtracts from the power of the movie.

Blockbuster is well known to have "special" versions of movies with extreme violence or, especially, sexual situations that the studios edit just for them. Now that was five or more years ago, so that may no longer be true, as Blockbuster is no longer the big dog on the block, so studios may be telling them to go for a walk if they ask for special cuts now. |
Sounds like Bodden wants an adult book store to take its place!
