That's true for my landline, but cable went from Comcast to ATT Broadband, then back to Comcast. So was cable OK when it was ATT? or is all cable bad, no matter who owns it?
Did Mylo hate ATTBI when it was them for cable?

I worked at @Home and @Work. I assisted with the migration to AT&T. They were good back then. What I hate is Comcast, their policies and practices, completely useless customer service, and ever-degrading technological quality.

If I remember correctly he said it was for a couple months but could be extended it he needed it. I'm tempted to switch too but the email address has been the piece holding me back. I've had my Comcast address for about 7 years now and don't want to let go!

I learned a long time ago (netcom?) never to tie my email address to my ISP. Get something like gmail and be agnostic.

You know there can be a point that people (censored) about something to an absurd level. Just because one person has had bad luck doesn't mean you should discount the other dozens of positive experiences.

That and I have discovered Mylo's idea of an outage is not the same as mine

Dude, you had me ping something to show how they are like on & off all the time, but the fact is when I'm surfing and emailing and stuff, if I don't see it or notice it impacting me, then I don't consider it downtime. You may be doing some kind of uploads and downloads where it is a real problem for you, I don't know, I do know that what I consider outages that impact me are few and far between, and most are resolved by me re-booting my modem and router. Yes, there have been times where I've experienced the network being down and unavailable, but that hasn't happened very often.

Anything greater than 30 seconds and TCP will timeout. Anything less, and "normal use" will go unnoticed, besides being annoyingly slow. If you're just a casual web/email user, no, you likely don't care about "outages", but don't go redefining what an outage is just to make Comcast appear flawless.

I don't think I am re-defining outage. I don't know enough about how the overall system works, but i know that with the total volume of bits being transmitted that some form of time-sharing has to be going on. so i suspect what you are calling an outage is merely their system not receiving or transmitting data to you while it is busy with data elsewhere. That's not to say they couldn't do a better job of how they share the limited transmission resources with all of their customers, but it doesn't mean the system is down and not operating thereby causing a true outage.

God, the two of you sound like a physicist trying to tell a dentist how volume of tartar is the real enemy--not lack of brushing.
