but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
"Wow! What a Ride!"

We were seated in the bar area. The bartender assumed the waitress was going to help us, the waitress assumed the bartender would. Each of them pased us several times before I grabbed their attention.
Last time, it was pretty busy, but after waiting 45 minutes with empty glasses and no food. We got up and walked out.
That was about 3 years ago.
That was my last experience there too - we went in - there was NOBODY else in the entire place. We sat for 15 minutes while the staff hung out at the bar chatting - nobody ever came by - we got up and left, that was the last time I ever stepped inside of Applebee's
buh bye

I agree, I liked them as well. Most of my experiences there were good, and even the worst one was made to be OK. I learned my lesson off that one. I had ordered a steak rare. It arrived well done. I can be lenient, if it had had any pink, i probably wouldn't have said anything, but as it was 100% brown in the middle, I couldn't not speak. I informed the waiter but also said, I didn't want to return it or get another delivered, I would eat it as is to enjoy the meal with my family as their food arrived when mine did. Well the waiter tells the manager any way and he comes out, so I explain the same thing to him. He says, very well, then he will remove my dinner from our bill. that was enough to make me a satisified customer so I've been back many times since then. I now stick to ordering steaks only at bonafide steak houses, they know what rare means. I'll miss them as they were one of my son's favorite places to go to as well. I liked ordering their low cal fair that had the weightwatchers points provided.

Hiya Bill, please don't shoot me but there are two places that know how to serve a rare steak, that's how I like mine. Try Mel's (Iknow, I know) but their breakfast steak and eggs for $4.99 can't be beat. Also try Moonie's, now this is a chef whom cuts his own meat and like his steak rare also. Just my (rare) comments... hehe

I doubt they will go under. I live near them, and they are consistently packed nearly every evening.

I like Mel's, but I usually order a sandwich, last time I actually tried their pork loin, but they overcooked it. It was no longer moist & flavorful, it was dry. I went to Bailies a long time ago and enjoyed my dinner there, but I haven't been to the new management Moonie's, maybe I'll give them a try this coming Father's Day ( one of the two times a year I force my wife to go to a steak house with me, the other being my birthday ). So it's more often I end up at steak houses when I'm out of town away from the family, or going to a company or club Xmas party.

I know one of the owners of the Nor Cal Franchise. Straight shooter, good guy, really cares about quality. I haven't had a bad meal there (some service has been supbar which I have let him know) but the quality has always been good.
Last couple times I was into Gold River at any time they were above average in terms of crowd, however, Folsom has been dead every time. Another victim of this economy (and for those who had the bad experiences, obviously its also a victim of wavering service).
Maybe we could get a restaurant in there like Sweet Tomatoes?

Applebees is suspicious from from the get-go. Look at the menu. No apples, no bees.
