I get the reference of equality that both men are racist, but it's still a stupid relation to bring Wright into this conversation. There's millions of other racists that could have been discussed in this comparison, but Wright was obviously picked to create an Obama/Democrat/Political bend to the thread. IMO, it's just stupid to bring political bickering into this one, although not unexpected behaviour from either side of our childish bi-party political environment.

I don't consider Wright a political figure - I just happened to hear these 2 news stories back to back (on Tom Sullivan), and find both *personally* very disturbing. There was no political inference by me.

That's really surprising. SHOCKING, in fact. I'm completely flabbergasted that Fox News would put a story about Wright being racist immediately following a report on a White Supremest murder. They really should step back and think about their line-up or their shee.. uh, audience.. might accidentally see a connection between the two events. I personally would've expected Fox to do another montage on John & Kate Plus 8 instead of doing such a potentially destructive and dangerous juxtaposition of events. Gosh, Fox News is really slipping lately.

you're right, one was an extremist hater who resorted to violence, the other mostly just talks out his behind and other then inciting others to hate, he's relatively harmless by comparison to the guy today.

there is indeed a difference in their levels of hatred, but underneath it all they are both equal in their hatred for other races.. its the nut jobs that resort to violence that need to be locked up asap. the others unfortunately (however you want to look at it) have the right to free speech no matter how much we dislike what they are saying.

That's the amount of time Fox News spent on the Holocaust Museum killing last night during prime-time, according to TV Newser.

Also, Media Matters notes that as of 10 a.m. this morning, mentions of "Holocaust" and/or "von Brunn" on Fox were 40 percent less than CNN, and 30 percent less than MSNBC.

UPDATE: Greta Van Susteren responds to the TVNewser item, noting that the show's been criticized in the past "for doing too much crime" but now is being "criticized for not doing enough."

As I am sure you all know Fox provided substantial and thorough reporting of the shooting all afternoon and in updates throughout the rest of the day and into the evening. By 10pm the horrible crime had been solved and closely reported...and we thought it appropriate to again briefly report the news of the crime (we did) and move on to other topics not covered all afternoon while Fox reported the breaking news non stop.

They did that the hour before the racist comparison, so you don't really want to rerun that back to back. Gotta wait at least a few hours between Palin/Jindal campaigns.

As we've been investigating the background of James von Brunn, the suspect in today's shooting at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC., we've learned that he's not some unknown figure on the extreme racist right. He was seen as something of a revered elder.

Yikes... Now the not-so-extreme media is jumping all over Shepard Smith for his point out the over-the-top hate email he's received from extremist-sounding viewers. Some are calling for his removal from Fox, all because he talked about disturbing emails he gets.
