I swung by Old Europe quickly and liked that they had live music out back, but was surprised how empty it was inside.

probably b/c all the action was outside. I know I'd feel like I was missing out if I were inside.

My family of 4 had a nice time. We ate before we arrived but plan to head to the Market for dinner options in the future. Great energy and subtle changes, looks like the promoter listened.
BTW I have had a booth in the past and opted out this season. A girlfriend of mine did take the booth space and said the promoter was easy to work with and appreciated the flexibility offered.
Oh and I got a shirt too, thanks John!

Which was the problem all along last year, when they kicked out the food vendors and wanted everyone to order off the restaurant takeout menus.

We were there early...a little too early, so we just went and ate first and then walked around. I think I have the same comments as everyone else:

1. I thought there would be more food vendors, as in produce and such. Some of the food vendors (food to buy and eat) looked pretty darn good and I REALLY like how many of the restaurants set up food outside - it gives us a chance to try out some of the local fare with kids in tow.

2. Good selection of vendors. Didn't know if it's the same ones all season or will they rotate?

3. Didn't have any issues with the dogs - all the ones we encountered were very well behaved even though my daughter asked every single person if she could pet their doggy. rolleyes.gif

4. I agree with the bouncehouse issues! Definitely needs some improvement and organization with ages of kids. Little kids did get trounced!

Overall, nice. Not sure if it would bring us out EVERY week, but we'll be back!!

I attended from 8:00 - 8:45 PM last night. I was apprehensive about what TNM might have become. But I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was as good as I remember it from several years back. The "teenager management" seemed to be working pretty well, too. I enjoyed strolling and browsing and grazing.

I understand people's comments about having a real farmer's market and more food vendors, but still, congrats - it worked for me.

My wife and I and our 3 year old daughter attended the TNM. We did enjoy it, but we also see the need for a real farmer's market, not a grocery store selling their produce.

Regarding the "teenager management", I would only add that there needs to be better management of keeping teenagers off of their skateboards within the walking areas along Sutter Street. My daughter was almost struck twice by an irresponsible teen on a skateboard while we were walking along Sutter Street and she was holding my wife's hand. Other than that, we enjoyed the vendors and the atmosphere right here in our city!

I'm not surprised, its always like that (how do they survive?). The food is good, but its too heavy to eat their regularly, they need some lighter stuff on the menu. Its got to be hard to sell that heavy food in the summer (except for those tasty bratwurst)

We stopped by Old Europe's booth with high hopes of getting a delicious brat, but they were just too darn expensive, especially when there were several other good vendors serving brats. $7.25 was just more than I want to pay. I'd have paid $5.50, which was still more than the other vendors to have and Old Europe dinner, but not almost double.

that's way too much to charge for a glorified hot dog, unless it came with a beer.

As a vendor I was very impressed. Clearly a "buzz" that's been missing before. I still feel charged from it. Tons of people! I can't wait to return as a street walker smile.gif

Agree on the buzz. It helped to have more live music and the DJ created a bit of "interactivity" with the passers-by. Thanks for the shirt, btw, John. The XL was just fine.

I loved the fact that there was a large main stage as well as musicians and entertainment scattered throughout.

I thought the farmer's market really wasn't one. It was a produce stand from Grocery Outlet. That's not a bad thing, but it shouldn't be called a farmer's market.

It seemed the only food available on the street was sausages (and a tri-tip sandwich). I like to see the meat-on-a-stick vendors, the noodles, and the burritos. More variety.

Also, with the set up kind of prevented the teens from gathering in one spot. They kept moving and were well-behaved.

All in all, a great kick off.

hey I'll be back on Thursday, but I'm running out of shirts. Stop by early, you don't have to be a regular - I don't mind handing them out to lurkers as long as you promise you will wear it and not wash your car with it!!!
