830? 930? How about 421am? That's when my lights came on and woke me up!

This is frustrating.

We had a great meal at La Fiesta, though. Chili Verde was the special, for $5.75!

Chef Raven,
You must live nearby. I just got through posting this when I saw your post.
What the hell is going on with SMUD in the Willowcreek area??? This is the third time we have had a long term power outage in as many weeks!!!! The power was already out when I got home at 5:00 pm and didn't come back on until 4:30 am this morning. SMUD seems to be totally incompetant in fixing this damn transformer and meanwhile we're stuck in over 100 degree weather and losing hundreds of dollars in food not to mention all the other inconveniences having absolutely NO power sticks you with. I am really getting fed up with this. I called SMUD this morning and was kept on hold for an hour while they tried to figure out what the problem was. They still don't know. It is always just this area of Folsom that is affected.I am filing a claim with them and I suggest any others who are in the area do the same.

I too am fed up with this!

I think this has been the 4th time, once power was off during the day for a few minutes!

In didn't see anyone from SMUD working on this anywhere last night.

Another thing it would be nice to see a "stronger presence" of police cars cruising through the area when the power goes out after dark, given we have had rash of car break ins in the neighborhood. I walked around and sat out front and with neighbors for while and never saw one.

One would think there would be an automatic notification that power is off in a neighborhood to the PD, without the residents having to call.

When the power was out for hours and hours, did SMUD give an accurate estimate of when the power would come back if you called them? I've never been w/o power for more than 30 minutes or so, and SMUD has been fairly accurate when I call the outtage hotline.

Yes, when I called SMUD first said 8:30 pm, then I called again around 8:45 and they had changed it to 4:30 am. It came on right around 4:25 am. Last night was a long night trying to sleep in an 80+ degree house!

I thought the power was out last night! I was driving home about 8:45pm on Flower from Tailsman (the back way from Roseville!!) and noticed no street lights or house lights on Flower... I was like hummmm - wonder if I have lights??? Hit the stop sign at Willow Creek and Flower -all the street lights were on ahead of me on Flower. Turned down McFarland and everything was fine!!!

Sorry to all of those without power - I hope the fix it soon and give you some kind of refund.

I wish SMUD would get their butts out to fix the street light that has been out for over a month!!! The street light in front of our house belongs to SMUD and not to the City of Folsom.. They say about 10% of the lights in the city belong to SMUD - why I have no idea! City of Folsom is chasing SMUD but they said they don't respond very quickly... Nice really Nice!!!

It's so dark outside my house now and I hate it.

Maybe they can knock out both issues in one visit - oh wait that would be way too easy!

When I called SMUD ( and was passed around and put on hold for an hour) I finally got ahold of a supervisor who actually told me.......you should get a back up generator????WTH? How about just getting a crew to fix this problem once and for all. Every time we have lost power in the last 3 weeks it has been during the hottest part of the day and extends into the wee hours of the morning. No 30 minute shortages, at least 4++ hours at a time. And I have driven around the neighborhood and it is ALWAYS the same area that goes without power.....from the Randall/ Willowcreek intersection down to Flower and Willowcreek and the loop around Rebecca and Hancock.
I wish more people would take an active position and call SMUD, then maybe they would begin to take it a little more seriously......

I know this in't the City's responsibility, but doesn't one of our city council members serve on some sort of advisorary board with SMUD?

If so maybe we could go to the council meeting asking them to speak up on our behalf?

Maybe I'll ride my bike to the next meeting and ask.

We are on Flower and had the power out for the second time in three weeks. It is hard when the kids have homework and school in the morning. My son ended up at the restaurant doing his homework, it was my night off and I wasn't happy to spend it in my 90 degree house.

Smud workers were actually in front of our house and on Kerr Ct. around 9pm working. The thing that really sucked was the fact we could hear the airconditioning unit at the house in back of us going off/on.

We invested in some better flashlights.

Once again, the power was out! How many more times is this going to happen before someone will get around to finding and fixing the problem? My patience is wearing thin.

I have called several times.
If anyone else wants to make some noise, here you go:
Mr. James ( supervisor)SMUD #916-732-7271.

It would be nice not to be the lone voice out there.

Luckily I was out when it happened this time. But I came home to a warm house. Our fragile air conditioning unit couldn't handle the third power outage in a month. I was hoping it would last another month until we moved. It is going to be a long night again

Request claim paperwork and file a claim (for your air conditioner unit, food loss, etc) with :
