You can pick up a kid's meal... I'm sure they'll sell it to you... just say it's for your kid.

I do at fast food places but a sit-down restaurant may be more difficult.

When they see you eating the kids meal just say your ex-husband never showed up with your son..... weep a bit and say, "And I have joint custody!" They'll leave you alone.... tongue.gif

That's a little dramatic don't ya think?? What if my husband is there? Should I pretend I'm psycho and say that my "kids" are here but they're invisible or something?

The 'invisible kids' routine is clever, but if the waiter calls the manager, you may be screwed.

I tell them that I am the spirit of a 10 year old channelling through a 45 year old body.

I order the kids meal at the teriyaki place near my work all the time.

My coworkers laugh at me, since it comes on a little plate with bears and balloons, but I get the last laugh. They give you only a slightly smaller portion of chicken and rice, they just cut out the crappy salad. Costs $2 less too smile.gif

If only they'd give me a real plate sad.gif

The owners don't seem to mind that I don't order the full blown meal.. at least they're getting some money outta me!

I think you might have trouble at a sit-down restaurant. Though I must say, I don't know the legality of restaurants putting age limits on menu items. (They can do it for seniors, I guess...)

At ice cream shops, I always order the "kids" or "junior" size. (I have asked, and the server says it's okay). I don't know where ice cream shops get the idea that we all want to eat a 1/2 gallon of ice cream at a time...

Ummm...I'm tempted to try that. Have you actually done that? I don't know if I really will but it's very tempting. It would be very funny!

I wonder if they could refuse your request if you ordered the child's meal or if the age is just listed as a "suggested" age limit.

Husband routine is easy.... "Thank God for my 2nd husband! My 1st husband is a bum! Here we are waiting for him to drop off the kids, have a little food for them, and this is what I get" tongue.gif

I was curious and called the Macaroni Grill in Folsom. The manager said it would be ok for an adult to order off the kids menu but they just wouldn't get the extras like the kids dessert. tongue.gif

So it seems to be the child menu is OK to order off of. I felt pretty silly asking but had to get an answer. It was fun. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Did you tell them that your choice is either buy a kids meal at Mimi's or spend the equivalent amount elsewhere? ie. Taco Bell?
