I'll agree with the overpriced, but bland? I feel like it's a little healthier than the other places mentioned. I don't feel so thirsty and bloated after eating there like other Chinese food places. I'm surprised, Deb B. I thought you didn't like overly salty food.

I find that no matter what you order, it tastes the same. How can honey walnut prawns taste like a beef dish?!

Are you serious? You think the only way to get food to taste interesting is to add salt? Food is bland if it lacks enough flavor, and flavor comes in a variety of spices.

Of course, I'm not saying only salt adds flavor. I'm saying that Fat's doesn't seem to be as salty as some of the local places.
For example, -- and this is just my opinion -- the orange chicken at Fat's has plenty of flavor and I don't have to guess if they've mistakenly given me pork instead of chicken because at some of those places it's hard to tell exactly what the meat is. It doesn't have so much spice that I can't taste the orange in it.
On the other dishes I can actually taste the vegetables instead of just soy sauce. I guess it's just me.
Like I said, I can't afford to go there very often and I was actually very angry at them for quite a while about some very poor service and wait times. To each his or her own.

Well..................you assumed my contention that the food is bland was due to lack of salt and called me on your assumption of contradiction with other posts related to saltiness of food. I'm just sayin'.........................

Is it National Nitpicking Day and somebody forgot to tell me?

LOL -- No it isn't. Just sounded like you were responding to 'bland" and not to Chinese as a salty food.
Now that that's cleared up............... Soy sauce is supposed to be salty. Pretzels are supposed to be salty. I don't eat a lot of either, but when I eat it I expect it to taste like what it's supposed to taste like, but don't like either overly salty.
Most food does not have to be salted to taste good, and when restaurants lay on the salt in lieu of other herbs and spices it doesn't impress me and I don't enjoy it as much.
You can resume your regular activities now.

now now don't be rubbing salt into any wounds
besides laying off the salt, you should also go see your doctor and have your tastes buds checked if you can't tell the difference between honey walnut prawns taste and a beef dish

definitely way over priced, but with their building costing more then a million, they've got some serious bills to pay

Grocery stores run Chinese restaurants so they can sell all the produce that is past it's sell-by date simply by cooking it up. Leftover groceries made into leftover chinese, no thanks.

RUN AWAY!!!!
The best Kung Pao chicken I've had in town was at Hop Sing, far far better than the watery and bland stuff I got at T2 Yan. I suppose those days are behind me...
