Every single Dr I've talked to now basis the H1N1 on Fever mainly. Body aches are right up there too.

Respiratory symptoms as well. The H1N1 has unusual damage to the lungs as compared to the common flu.

Yes, I've looked at much of this information.

These sites all present the "standard" list of possible flu symptoms, but really don't discuss whether it is common to have H1N1 without fever or body aches.

here is one of the more simplified, side by side comparison that I have seen. I hope this helps.

yes, we were all very lucky. pediatrician is in rancho and he said i could take my son in that night or wait until the morning....thankfully i opted for right that minute!!!! i took him to mercy san juan, as i refuse to ever set foot inside mercy folsom again. i keep hearing horror stories about hospitals and treatment, but i can only say wonderful things about the care my son received at mercy san juan. lucky for him, the e.r. docs started him on 2 different IV antibiotics immediately AND tamiflu, all in the e.r. before we ever were admitted. the antibiotics were going to treat the pneumonia assuming it was bacterial. however, they decided to swab for swine AND then while we waited the 3.5 days for the results from the health dept to come back, they would also treat him for swine, just in case (early treatment/tamiflu is key)....then once the health dept notified the hospital with a confirmed or denied case of swine, they would stop one of the treatments. i am very grateful that they took the progressive approach and zapped him with both options while we waited. i am certain that is why everything turned out for the best.

Thanks for letting us know. My mother, who just recently passed away, was helped the best that she could be at Mercy San Juan, as the Hospitalist who treated my mother basically killed her at Sutter Roseville, Thats another story. She did die due to him. My parents are well off too and not any transients. Anyway Mercy San Juan was so wonderful with her and our choice will be Mercy San Juan, too.. I had heard such horror stories about them.

my #1 question that I can't seem to find anywhere is what are the survival rates for babies 9 month - 3 years old?

I can find all the negative stories but are there any positive anywhere? I have one 9 month and one 2 year so I would like to have a hope should they come down with it...

I can STONLY suggest this. If you take your HEALTHY child to any dr's office then make the appointment so they are the first to be seen in the morning and have them wait outside until their appointment time is ready.

I went to my dr's appointments for our healthy girls well checks the other day and had to refuse to bring them into the building as well as reschedule after being disgusted by how things were being handled. There was at least 6 kids horribly sick with masks on wondering around the waiting room. There is NO rooms separated for the healthy kids... its an absolute nightmare. If the health systems can't even figure out a way to separate healthy babies from horribly sick kids then we have SERIOUS issues. I felt like it was Katrina all over again...

Of course you will only find the negative stories, because that is the media. I do not know except from word of mouth. The CDC will never tell you how many have made opposed to how many had to go on Vents, ECMO's etc. Both of my daughters, take their children to Dr Burry in Folsom and they actually have a well and sick side, Also, when they are well they have a designated room for them where a sick child has not been. Yeah, you think this would be common sense, for sure and you did the right thing. Also, I am with you, it is so rude to have someone coughing, regardless of the swine flu, any type of illness can be spread, but that has to do with peoples etiquette and most people do not even cover their cough right, either. But people do not know, I guess, due to we have never had a pandemic for 50 years.
Dr's and staff all agreed that it shouldn't have been like that but somebody needs to do something about it.

One final note... don't go out to eat if you have a bad cough. Please! Even if its not swine flu.

Speaking of horror stories pertaining to Mercy Folsom. I took my 6 year old about 3 weeks ago for some respitory issues. The attending drs and nurses stated that he had a very bad case of pneumonia. they even did a chest X ray to confirm this diagnoses and put him on IV's and other meds. the next day I took him to his pediatrician and she looked at the same X ray (i took them with me for her to review) and she did NOt see the same thing. In fact, she laughed because she never heard of Pneumonia without a fever. He was diagnosed with a bad case of allergies and was fine a few days later. A very bad case of Pneumonia was Mercy Folsom's Professional diagnoses. Idiots.

Ever get the idea reading X-rays isn't an exact science?

Jesse, Jocelyn and I are all sick... Jesse and Jocelyn are on the upswing, whereas I'm just on day 2. They both were run down, no appetite, fevers and coughs. I am super sore, fever and cough.

Whether it's H1N1 or not, I don't know and we won't go to the doctor just to have them tell us to do what we're already doing (resting, pushing fluids, Tylenol for Joce). If it is H1N1, then it's not living up to the hype. Sure, we're sick and uncomfortable, but nothing worse than anything we've had in the past. Just trying to rest and take care of ourselves.

Though, I do have to say that due to all of the reports of H1N1 being so dangerous for kids, I am watching Jocelyn carefully. Again, she is on the upswing, but if her cough doesn't go away pretty soon here, I will likely take her to the doctor, just to set my mind at ease.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY GIRL.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

I do not know how old your child is, but they can get better and then get worse quickly. That is when you go to ER. That means a secondary infection.
So what I can see is there is alot of sickness around this area now. I hope you all get better soon.

I heard that any flu you get now is H1N1 so of course it is the most prevalent flu out there now. Geesh, still way too much hype and media blow on this. Got people running scared for their Tami-flu and un-tested vaccines.

Can't wait until Summer when we can start talking about 2012 and some real issues.

You know we finally agree. It is still bad and will get worse during winter. But I am with you, I can hardly wait for next summer, too. You stay well, Darth

Don't see why you agree with Darth. He's really not agreeing with you and if your worried about H1N1 then summer will only be worse unless they get over half the planet vaccinated by then (which they won't especially since half won't take the vaccine).

Anyways, I know that on the 15th of December or something the folsom high school will have the free vaccine lines. As well as alot of schools and churches in Sacramento in 3 weeks. But, those are the freebie's. Is there any news based off the history of other cities so far on whether or not our individual Dr's offices will get the non-free shots to administer by appointment? Our office keeps saying they know nothing yet and to keep calling back but I'm just curious if its a lost cause?

I'd REALLY rather not take 2 health babies to Sacramento and wait in line at a school with a bunch of potentially sick people. Especially since I believe the babies will need 2 shots before they are fully protected.

Any idea's?

Not running scared, but I got my un-tested vaccines yesterday. I expect they will work as well as the vaccines I've been getting almost everyyear, knock on wood, for another flu free year for me.

I have no ideas at all except the health clinics. My daughters Pedi is saying the same thing.
I just read a article and that is what a MD said, too. unless more than 75 percent get immunized they have no idea when it will leave. If you are that concerned, than take the kids and wait in line. it is outside right? the whole thing is a mess. Good Luck As far as Darth, whatever, it does not matter.

Where did you get your swine flu shot, Bill Z?

UCDavis says they don't have any; call back in a few weeks.

Maybe Kaiser really is better...

That story is most likely bogus, do some research. Its been a hugely controversial case and all over the internet for a while now. Its not even about the swine flu vaccine but in regards to the normal flu shot. That video is just labeled for searches. There has been other video's done by quite a few other then this station in the video also that denote it.

Most dr's are using her for a poster girl of a different disease (thats basically in her head) that is not linked with the flu shot at all and as far as I know there has never been a recorded case of that disease ever with the flu shot.

If it is the flu shot then its 1 in a million chance. Those who fall ill with swine flu have alot more risk then 1 in a million in actually dying as well as spreading things to others. And if you don't get the vaccine this year then you have a HIGH chance of getting this virus. I'm not saying to run for the hills... just don't be extreme in believing arguments like this video.

Lets not spread around propaganda... If that is a real case then I'm sorry for her but it doesn't mean it was because of the flu shot. Trauma and things like emotional disturbances cause the disease most feel she has. And personally I wouldn't be surprised if its an elaborate hoax...
