I drive Salmon Falls a lot - you have to respect that road and drive safely, it's a dangerous road.
It's too bad that youth feel so invulnerable....

So so sad.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

So so sad.
I think it is a method used for racing... that some people try to mimic. We watched the movie CARS again the other day and I realized Doc was giving Lightning advice on how to drift to take the corners faster...
This story is sooooo sad.

It's not the first generation to be filled with kids who truly believe that they are invincible and in and of itself, that's not a bad attitude. But it is a shame that they can't seem to apply that attitude to school, sports, or business. That BA attitude would much better serve them if they applied it to something other than speed.
Hopefully this will strike close enough to home for the kids in Folsom to take notice and think twice next time they get behind the wheel OR in the car.

Sad thing to hear and perhaps a reminder to talk to our kids not to ride or drive with\like hot rodders.

It's sad those kids didn't think to take their drifting practice to a track where they could have done it very safely all day long.
Salmon falls is a really tight curvy road, doing it on a motorcycle is fun and sometimes hard, but racing on that road in a car at high speeds while drifting around corners (into potentially oncoming traffic) is just pure reckless insanity.

That is a street legal rally car and is especially dangerous in the hands of an inexperienced driver.
Not that it's the cars fault, but I'm of the opinion that all teenagers will crash, it's only a matter of "how badly"? Go YouTube "rally crash" and see what those cars are capable of.

two things
one, drifting doesn't get you around the corners faster, not on pavement.
two, last nights news reported there were 3 cars following each other when this happened, so it does sound like they were being reckless, if so, that kid deserves whatever he gets and more, I hope the memories of his friends haunts him for the rest of his life.

I gotta hear more on this...
I'd like to see what the other kids that were there saw and feel now...
How about you...? do you think after they came upon that scene they will have their lives changed a bit...?
Wow.. is all I can say... what an awful thing to happen that didn't need to...
It was some weekend for accidents.. how about the young man in a mini cooper who runs a red like.. clips a couple of cars.. broadsides a mini van and killed a family of 4 over in Navato...?

I was in a car crash where 7 of us were in the bed of a truck that was going too fast along a mountain road and lost control and rolled spilling us all out along the pavement before heading over a cliff. The kids following us did come around the corner and that is what they saw- kids scattered all over the road in various states of injury.
Thank god none of us died that night, but the "followers" had the memories of that terrible sight and it haunted them for awhile.
So sad and my heart goes out the the familes of the teens.

Right. I believe most do it because it "looks cool" like the WRC but forget that Ken Block and WRC rallies are closed course, have training and prep cars in case something goes wrong.

not, 3 other cars but 3 total, so only 2 other. I was watching channel 13 news last night when I heard that. Don't know where they heard that.
Three Killed In El Dorado County Crash
Three teenagers were killed and another wounded after a single car accident in El Dorado County early Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said a Subaru Impreza carrying four people lost control on Salmon Falls Road at about 12:45 a.m. and smashed into a tree.
The accident killed three passengers and wounded the driver, according to authorities.
The vehicle that crashed was one car in a group of three that were travelling together at the time. It is not known why the group was travelling in a rural area at that time of the night.
All of the victims, including the driver, are residents of Rocklin or Folsom. Authorities have not released the identities of any of the victims.
