We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

I'd like to venture to it with the kids - maybe get some sledding / tubing in for a couple of hours this weekend. Does anyone know the best/closest place to stop somewhere along the 50 corridor?
Thanks -
Search for Sledding or snow in the past 30 or 60 days as I believe there was at least 2 threads on the question. On 50 though, you can go to a sledding hill in Strawberry (paid parking) or Echo Summit snow park (very top of Echo Summit before you descend down into South Lake Tahoe) or Sly Park area if snows low enough.

if they go Saturday and possibly by midday Sunday they should be fine. They should know how to chain up or have a level head and be super cautious if driving a 4x4...just take it easy and slow. Don't be in a hurry, don't care if the other car(s) are dorks... Snow is great and they will have a blast.

I don't think Monday will be a good day to go.
One, the roads will be bad.
two, the skiing will likely be miserable, if the slopes are even open.

Off Topic- but Rocklin HS is also taking the full week off

Thanks- that is what I figured as well.

Weather trends tend to loosely follow a 10-12 year pattern. The last time we had weeks of rain and significant flooding was '97. So it's about time! This should be the beginning of a couple of really good rain and snow years. Too bad we'll forget and be surprised during the drought years of the late 20-teens.

care to share your sources? or is that your own forecasting?
Weather channel for Blue canyon shows nothing big until sunday
Wunderground, pretty much the same, 20% on Sat, 100% on sunday starting about 7 AM

I like your forecast because I am hearing snow level at 6900' during the day and dropping to lake level Sunday.
I too will be up there... taking the sleds (err snowmobiles) out Sunday and Monday. Praying for tons of snow!

· Never try to drive through standing water. If you drive through hilly roads during a storm, watch for road hazards (ie: washed out pavement, trees, power lines, mud, etc)
· Check roof drains and down spouts to make sure they are clear of debris.
· Keep children away from creeks and large drains which can be deadly during storms.
· Don't forget your pets.
· Turn off automatic sprinklers.
· Don't store hazardous materials in areas that may be subject to flooding.
· Keep your car fueled. If electric power is cut off, filling stations may not be able to operate.

I'm wondering if I should try and weather it out in my son't fort on Sunday.
You could make a real fun weekend by playing basketball then weathering out in the fort in between storms?
Sounds like a great father/son bonding opportunity!
