Apple iPad

Looks-wise it reminds me of a large cell phone or remote control for seniors with big keys but I like the size and thinness.
Mylo and others have covered much of the MIA features. I think it could still be a hit.
A few questions I havent researched yet is will an iPhone user be able to swap the SIM and use 3G cellular on the iPad -- certainly ATT will want or make you get another data plan vs. using the iPhone account but would be nice if you could use same SIM. I mean come on the mandatory data plan for iPhoen for "unlimited" data should be fair use.
Will iPad versions of apps you have purchased on the iPhone be free or a small upgrade vs. full purchase?

when are these companies going to learn, unless i really have to, i will watch tv or movies on my 60 inch plasma, not an itty bitty computer / tablet.
Your comments seemed to contradict themselves?
It's funny to hear people says things like "when will these companies learn" when your referring to a company that has the best selling products imaginable. I guess they should hire more people like you to "teach them" about people because they obviously don't know what they are doing...
Otherwise, I think the only problem with the iPad are 1 being that the name is soooo stupid. Just like the Macbook "air" but worse. One of the #1 trending topics on twitter right now is iTampon and you got to admit that Apple kind of deserves it.
Anyways, the big problem is the thing is just so empty right now. The iPhone was a developers dream now offering how many apps? This thing is a step beyond that to developers. Give them a few months to do their magic and see how freaking cool this thing will be!
It does allow bluetooth keyboards and will have really good office apps. I'm sure they will even make MS office for it.
Lets not forget the plethora of cool accessories there will be for it.
We can all say our likes and dislikes but this device is going to be just as big or bigger then the iPhone itself. Mark my words...

They did say Bluetooth, but not Keyboards. That's been a pending feature in the iPhone OS for months. They have the docking keyboard option to sell first, so I doubt BT Keybds will be coming soon...

Do you guys remember the Atari?
Simple. Innovative. Changed the American Household--PERMANENTLY!!!!!!!
Simple can be good. I love the look of this thing. Makes me look over my shoulder and wonder where 'Spock' or 'Picard'-is!!

And my comment referring to "when will they learn" is in reference to the multiple attempts of companies to make a tablet/pad. It has been tried before, it has failed. Maybe Apple will do it...but history has proven otherwise for others.
...and you're right. They should hire me.
I agree with you on names....Air Jordans...good. Macbook Air....bad.
Last question. Will you be buying one and at which price point? And what will you use it for? Just wondering.

No. Don't think so. With the iphone the weight was on the iPhone team to create an SDK. With the Tablet they have already released the SDK which begins the dev race as did the iPhone SDK release. Before the iPhone SDK there wasn't crap for apps on an iPhone. Just web 2.0 stuff that sucked and wasn't apple's apps anyways. Apple isn't a giant iPhone app creator... they build the SDK's and release it to the wolves.
No, the bluetooth keyboards are compatible from the start. Check out this page under bluetooth:
http://www.apple.com/ipad/design/
Maybe they have to be an "Apple" branded one I don't know... but that's still a bluetooth keyboard and not one of the docking keyboards.

I don't think they are marketing it as your "primary" entertainment device. But if your going on an airplane how the heck are you going to fit your 60 inch plasma on your lap?
MP3 Players failed. Apple iPod came along to suceed. Why? iTunes. Then iTunes Music Store.
PDA. Failures.
Smart Phones. Failures.
Then Came along the iPhone.
Tablet Touch PC's. Failures. Now comes along Apple with 140,000 applications. An app store. Book Store. Music Store. Movie Store. Game Store. Killer gaming and everything else device. I'm thinking no matter how empty it looks now... we got a winner to succeed where everybody else has failed. AGAIN.
While your probably a great worker and talent... I'm thinking that you might be arguing with Steve too much over the motivations of Apple products...LOL.
Of course I'll buy one. My iPhone has been never ending in its uses... this thing is a step further. I'll buy the 3G and probley 16 GB. So far I've learned that I never seem to use even half my space on these things. As long as it can hold my entire music library then everything else can sync as needed with my computer. If I go on a trip I'll sync 3 movies or something but I don't need ALL of them. Downloading pictures... I don't need more then a GB or two before I re-sync. Get where I'm going? As things get full just transfer to the computer at home.

It won't replace PC's. But they will create a killer version of photoshop for it I'm sure as well as video editing apps. As we speak I've been watching the Filming gods throwing up mockups on twitter for pro video editing solutions. I think if anything holds it up it will be the lack of multi-tasking allowance as there is zero : (
Might be something they can release via software update though as I'm sure the processors allow it.

Yes, but two things---A) the iphone is a pain in the arse since it only works well with ATT carrier.
B) I hate ATT
C) I won't ever get an iphone or ipad or imultitasker as long as it is run by ATT
D) The reason i like the looks of this is that it is the size. and since blue tooth on phones, who cares if it is 2" or 20"? I can put it down on the coffee table, car seat next to me--whatever and get the same quality phone call.
E) I may be forced to re-evaluate my views of ATT (dang it) if they continue to have a monopoly with I., products. (isn't there a law against that?)
