It will be more expensive ... but worth it. I am all for supporting local business, but all it took was going to FLB and dodging drunk people at the entrance. I took my kids to the bathroom and they heard every bad word possible from drunk "dudes" tring to pee and talk at the same time.

Also, the snack bar people seemed inconvenienced when I wanted to purchase soda AND... the hassle to walk into the bar, stand in line, get bumped and wait a long time for a beer while my family was waiting for me to bowl was horrible.
It is not a family atmosphere.

STRIKES!!!

Hmmm. First-time poster. I think there is room enough for two bowling alleys. If you like Strikes or you are part of Strikes and want to talk it up, fine. No need to slam the competition.

I think Folsom plenty big enough for 2 bowling alleys. Plus, there don't seem to be any other alleys along hwy 50, so it will probably draw in people from EDH, Placerville and Rancho Cordova.

Yes it will and then the crowd will be just like the one at FLB. So if people think it's going to be all white clean and neat just because Stirkes! is new think again!

i am not a first time poster, nor do i have any affiliation with strikes. i have had the same negative experiences at 'the folsom bowling alley' as did tas cammara. i have been to the strikes in rocklin one time and can't wait until one opens up here!!!!!! here's to hoping that the folosm old-timers and their poker playing cronies keep spending money at flb, cuz the bowling sure isn't going to once strikes opens.....

God forbid we have any place that is over 5 years old, us white upper class folk won't tolerate it, we need shiny new places that are sterile because Folsom old timers are yucky.

Plus now I won't have to leave the bowling area to get drunk, that's going to be nice and convenient for me, yeah strikes!

heheheh...

I agree with Mylo and think the Natoma/Blue Ravine/Green Valley location would have served Folsom much better. However, this will serve the 50.

I haven't been to a Strikes, but if there's a bar in the middle at which kids can sit I can't see how it would be a more family-friendly atmosphere than FLB (which I've only been to once). If there's alcohol served there, kids are gonna here bad words in the bathroom regardless of how shiny new the place is.

I think there's plenty of room for both businesses in town; Strikes may well serve EDH residents (but keep dollars in Folsom smile.gif )

For people's impressions of FLB, the place has changed quite a bit in the last few years. Slowly but surely they are making a lot of improvements. Very good people there, and they help keep this site free with advertising! If you enjoy MyFolsom.com, the best thing I could ask is to give our advertisers your business!

I agree there is room for both establishments and I wish FLB well. It should be mentioned that the bar in the middle of strikes also serves food and soda, there aren't single people lurking, they can do that in the main bar.

The last 3 times I went to Folsom Lake Bowl it was not open to the public. I always want to support the local businesses but when its that small and cant support non-league members its hard to give them business. You can only bowl one day a week or late at night. How exciting we will get more fun things to do....

No kidding. We decided to try and give FLB another shot - after the bad experience we had there a couple of months ago - called today and it's "league night" tonight - so we couldn't take the kids bowling again.

I'm looking forward to having another option here in town . . .

We ran into the same thing this coming Wednesday evening. We have about 20+ vendors in town and were planning an evening there but they couldn't accommodate us.

Wow, flb guy.. time to expand? I admit, I don't bowl (ever), but any biz that has 3 consecutive "I couldn't get in" complaints sounds like they need to grow!

Thanks for the posts, your right we are very busy throughout the week and there are definitely times that it's hard to get a lane. Since we have run into this problem we have posted an open bowling guide for daily open bowling availability. The link is here: http://www.folsomlak...penbowling.html

I'm also excited to say that coming with our new bowling center remodel we will have the ability to reserve lanes for birthday parties and open bowling online! This will be coming in March!
Best Regards,
Dan Dreher

Over the years, that's been my experience. Anytime I've tried to drop-in, all lanes were occupied by leagues or other events. Maybe my timing is just always bad, but I've never successfully been able to bowl there in at least a half-dozen attempts.

This just goes to prove to all the Strikes! haters out there that there is a need for them.... It is virtually on the other side of town so it shouldn't hurt FLB and will give residents a choice of new or old style.

just my opinion...
