but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
"Wow! What a Ride!"

Weird! Beautiful! Crazy! Maddening! Exhausting! Uplifting!
Life is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Or as someone posted on facebook the other day: Life is that section of the Venn Diagram where Science and Magic interesect.
In my opinion, Magic can be whatever you interpret it to be: Prayer, Love, Faith, Hope, Energy, etc. All of the above??
It's a glorious and beautiful thing.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

I wasn't offended by the idea of a get-together. I was more saying that I wasn't ready to think "party" when I am still so worried about little Jessica. I thought others may feel the same. I agree with you in hoping that in 3 weeks time, Jessica will be so far on the road to recovery that a "party" will feel just right.
I appreciate Jolene's generous spirit in encouraging others to go on with normal life.
Steve, I am sorry to hear about your father-in-law. It is different when it is a child, but at the same time it is terrible to think of anyone suffering. I hope your father-in-law can be successfully treated.

Little Jessica is just starting out, and I wish her a safe and pleasant journey. She's too young to have to deal with this sort of thing.
Jo, don't jettison any of your energy for us. Maybe give a smidge, but put the rest toward your little dynamo.

My dad had a heart attack right around the time of his first grand-child's birth, which happend to be the first week of January, 23 years ago. I remember Pops saying, from his hospital bed, "Out with the old, in with the new." I was saddened to hear him say that, but he explained that life goes on, and that it was great to have a new addition to the family and to the world.
George, I am so, so sorry to hear that. Your dad kind of reminded me of my own; warm, funny, gregarious, and loving life. I distinctly remember an afternoon my wife and I spent out on your patio. Your dad and your brothers were there, as were your wife and kids. We had wine and bruschetta, and your dad sang and told some of the corniest jokes around. There were a few other myfolsimites there, Tallady, Mylo, CW68, Farley and Folsom500, and a couple of others. Kids were playing on the lawn. It was a beautiful day, and your dad was obviously so proud of you.
Please give your family my best.

Unfortunately for me the City Council meeting is tomorrow as well and I plan on attending. If the area of concern for me finished early I will try to stop by.
