What's been working for myself, my brother, my husband and a friend of ours (and we've been telling everyone about it is a free online service called thedailyplate.com. It's part of Livestrong.com. You can easily track your calories and exercise and stay within whatever calorie range they tell you for how much you want to lose per week. It also has a weight loss graph and various graphs for sodium and other nutrient levels. Seems to be a very good, easy to follow program. Most foods are easy to find on the site (for recording purposes) and if it is not on there- you can find something comparable.

I've started this today. Nothing like a little accountability. I like that it breaks down the fat/carb/protein ratio. Plus you can add your water and fitness. I am just doing the trial version right now but I am thinking of buying it today. It's only $45 a year and has tons more features like imputing your vitamin goals. I love this thing!

Maybe it's not typical for most guys to care about stuff like their weight or appearance...but I do, so I just wondered, does anyone know the best way to lose a little weight if you CANT work out so easily? See I live in an apartment complex on the second floor, so I can't really do workouts here without getting my downstairs neighbors ticked off, lol. I've gone jogging in the morning sometimes, but that's not too easy in this area without privacy either.
I tend to eat FAIRLY healthy, but my problem is snacking. Not all junk food or fast food, but sometimes I load up at places like Dollar Tree and Grocery Outlet. Is there any supplement that can make you "less hungry less often" or something?
I don't need to lose a ton or anything. I weigh like 195 now, and ideally I'd like to drop down to 170ish. My avatar isn't the best picture of me, but any pics can be misleading...I'm not big at all, but I'd like to drop a clothing size or so. I'm looking for a job still and if I work at a place where you have to tuck your shirt in...it just makes me self conscious.

Oh yeah, forgot about Atkins. My dad was on that in the late 90s, I'll have to ask him about that sometime. From my memory I don't think he was on it that long though.
Chris V - so true, lol. I suppose that is the best remedy of all. I just wish you could buy it.

This diet is a lot of work, but I would recommend it because I feel like I am much healthier now and the weight is still dropping off!

I have been pedaling my butt off around Lake Natoma for months and can't seem to go any faster than 11.5 mph average. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am the slowest fat guy on the bike trail.

Nutrisystem - you can't stay on it forever, when you go off you gain weight.

MSgt, exercise for you doesn't have to be Chris' speed. Just get your heart pumping and you know you're giving yourself a work-out. Some people are faster than others, don't worry about it.

I've been doing this too and trying to figure out my weight gain. I did not realize how much fat I tend to eat. My concern has always been with carbs and protein, not thinking teribly about fat too much. Many of the foods I eat have lots of fat!!! This allows me to rethink meals I plan to eat finding a better option and ratio.
I also likes that it changes your allowed calorie intake based on excercise! It's idiot proof! I love it!

An easy way to lose weight is to cut all your portions in half and dump the beef and pork and stick to baked or grilled lean fish and chicken. Cook ONLY with Olive oil and then go easy on it as well. Have only fresh fruit for dessert or snacks, and reduce the sugar, butter and salt intake by half. (Stevia is much better to use as a sweetener..but don't use too much as it will cause an undesirable taste.) Walk more and avoid too much exercise as it will just make you want to eat twice as much. AND DO eat about six times a day. Plus, very important....drink a half gallon of water a day and meditate. Seriously, water flushes your system and helps you lose weight and meditation helps your body deal with stress, which can cause weight gain. After a few months see how that works for you.
If you haven't lost any weight or not enough to mention, go with even smaller portions of the carbs that put on weight, such as bread, potatoes, pasta and rice. Make sure you haven't skipped the water drinking and meditation. By this time your stomach will have shrank and you'll notice you get full faster than before. It's better to change your eating habits over time to get lasting weight loss that will be far healthier than binge dieting and exercising.

And Chris, no pork? Life isn't worth living.
