The AM news was reporting the cheerleaders were up at 4:30 AM practicing.
For HS Football, this is HUGE. I just hope the publicity doesn't make either team choke.
I'll be great if it's down to the wire and not a lop-sided blow out.

They're choking BIG TIME!
Not really. Grant is #4 in the nation. Folsom is unranked. The score is probably as it should be

It was closer last year, what happened this time around? Defense was non existent and that played out thru the entire game.

Folsom didn't test Grant's defense with the run - at all. Plus, Folsom's O line was ineffective and their defense had was no match for Grant's size.

Don't know of any teams in Sac that can match Grants size and strength. Folsom really doesn't have a true running game either. It's pass, qb keeper, pass and then more passing. If you want to dance w/ Grant you've got to keep Folsom Def off the field and take more time off the clock. I'm bummed Folsom didn't do better, especially since it was on National TV but our boys gave 100% and then some and we should all be proud of them.
I have never liked the term choke and really not approtpriate to use in a high school game. This was essentially a scrimmage and Folsom will learn so much from this game. Officiating was suspect (I'm being kind), but Grant is just too much smash mouth football, way too big, strong and very athletic...the better team won tonight!
We will be back. Should be a great year.

I did like Folsom's passing game when it executed properly. Was fun to watch.

According to my son, 2 different coaches sent in a player for the same substitution...net result, 12 on the field. What is "illegal participation?"
Edit: I googled it -- "Twelve or more players participate during the play, because the extra players either are not detected before the snap or enter during the play. Once the down begins, no further players may enter the field and participate, even if there are fewer than 11 players. Illegal participation is also called when an offensive player goes out of bounds (unless forced out by contact by the defense) and returns during the play."

[*]1. Loved #3 on the Bulldogs. That kid was everywhere on both sides of the ball. He was Folsom's toughest kid.
[*]2. D-line was pushed around. Poor tackling by the D... wrap 'em. Looks like a return to basics for the D in practice this week.
[*]3. Folsom's passing game seemed most effective without the rollout. They hit some nice post patterns that seemed to be there most of the night.
[*]4. Hate to say it, but Grant was more "composed," but they have also had more exposure to big games.
So, last night hurts, but this game will serve them well as the season rolls along. My gut says that they will be prepared for any other team that crosses their path. There is not another Grant on the schedule.
Good effort Bulldogs! It's just one game, and you might get another chance at Grant in the playoffs.
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.

So how many of you made sideline bets?
How many of you are curious to find out just how much the district and highschool made on that game? And how that money will be used? Shall the transparency of greed off of our cities youths talent be ignored for a "go bulldog!" scream and some blue paws face paint?

Dont forget, the FCUSD sold this game to ESPN to keep the sports program in the district. Not that chess or drama or music is less important but football does sell seats-especially when you BS the public and claim there is rivalry between the two cities. Oh, and the illegallity of working students for profit is waived without ado...in the name of high school football.
