I didn't grow up with steaks on the menu. I think my dad made some once. Cooked them until you could have made flip flops out of 'em (he was great at creole and souther dishes).

I never developed a taste for steak. I had one last year at Ella, one at a place near 16th and J, and one a couple of years ago at Ruth's Chris. None blew me away. Don't remember having any others recently.

For a fancy joint, I love seafood, lamb and Italian stuff.

Hmm, I'm a carnivore like no other human.
onetime when camping with friends back in my early twenties, after cooking steaks on a stick over the campfire (think large heavy marshmellow) and not having a good plate, knife & fork to use, we just grabbed the steaks with our two hands and ate 'em like we were animals. They tasted so good that way, juices dripping off our chins.

for some reason the family camped next to us packed up and moved a couple hundred yards down the lake. I guess we didn't come off as fine representatives of good behavior that camping trip.
I would rather be Backpacking

I personally do not think that a Foo Foo Steakhouse would fly long in Folsom.

Sutter St Steakhouse seems to be doing well in this economy.

People will pay for quality. This is also a good location to draw from outside of 95630.

What kind of steakhouse will this be? A foo foo place where every steak has some special sauce or glaze it is served with or a traditional meat & potatoes joint where I can order my burnt on the outside, raw on the inside, salt & pepper it myself type place?

Bill you know what to do - grab a grill, season your steak of choice, grill it, flip it, let it rest and enjoy eating it. Posted Image If you dont like restaurants, fine. No one is forcing you to go to Sizzler but yet the one in CP is still very much in business.

btw Sienna is pretty good having been there once. Its not expensive, great decor, friendly professional servers and a good dining experience.

Sienna makes the most awesome mojito ever and I don't normally like mojito's. I hope they put it on the menu at Land Ocean! I would go just for that!

This is great news, we need more fine dining restaurants in town.

Personally I like good tasting unique culinary creations. I'm not fond at all of boring bland tasting simple foods.

I'm not big into steaks (like Steve) but when I make a steak at home I either grill it and glaze it with a sauce or I pan sear it in butter with rosemary and garlic or other seasonings then pop it in the oven to finish it and top it with a red wine reduction and sauteed mushrooms.

Let me start off by saying that Mark the owner of Sienna was very instrumental in the PF Chang as well as Crush 29's desing and concepts... both very successful operations as well a Sienna. I eat at the Sienna at least twice a month and love it for the quality, ambiance and service as well as the pricing. When I spent some time talking to Mark on their second day of opening explained to me that he wanted a venue based on quality while providing an affordable pricing structure with the economy in fluctuation. I am sure that he also looked at the old Zinfandel location, but why would you put a steakhouse less than 100yds. of the Sutter Street Steakhouse? I must add that after 22 years of outside sales and travel I very rarely eat out dinner anywhere. I am more of a lunch guy and I haven't tried Sutter St. Steakhouse due to the fact that they open at 4:00 P.M. I know that the new Land-Ocean will be open for lunch... sign me up! I'll be there... mmmmmmmm steaks, beef, pork... as for my other love which is Italian, I'll stick with Srings.

good point about the old zinfandel grille location being so close to the sutter street steak house. I wish someone else would go in that spot though. nice views and a great location. I loved that outdoor dining area by the water feature.

That is a really great spot and Zinfandel grill was the very first restaurant we went to when we moved here, a friend had given us a certificate for that place as a house warming gift. It's a shame that restaurant location has been sitting empty for so long.

I also have wondered why such a beautiful location such as the Zinfandel has been vacant for years.. You'd think that a business could a fantastic lease on the building. Also with the Old Town being improved on a daily basis, I think it be the a great advantage to a new venue.

Didn't he launch or run Carver's in Roseville? I always liked that place. Suede Blue (Carver's Location) has been good the times we've gone to Roseville.

Looking forward to LO.

I still haven't found a fantastic steak in Sacramento....6 years later...there's nothing like The Vintage Press in little ole Visalia. I pretty much wait until I go home to visit the folks to get my steak fix. http://www.thevintagepress.com/

Not sure, but I think he runs Suede Blue currently. Not sure about Carver's.
