Nah, they just realize that they are in the category of people who don't pay as much in taxes and, therefore, won't be affected as much. As I stated before, people will vote "yes" if they get something (better education, health care, and public safety) and someone else pays for it (the other 42% that pay 90%+ of the taxes).
I think your assessment on this is correct.
That would explain why we have such a deficit in the California budget and it seems to get worse year by year.
Then they make things worse by not cutting the fraud and waste!
A couple years ago, I knew a woman who was getting one thousand dollars a month from the State, to care for her ill mother. The only thing was, she had full time employment, which she kept! Who took care of the mother?
Plus, the ill mother had cancer, but was still able to care for herself!
This woman should NOT have gotten a dime. But because there was no real investigating by the State, she collected it every month until her mother died.....two years later.
We can't afford for this sort of thing to go on! I'm sure there are many other abuses of the system going on.
