Never been to Chick Fil A... is it more like El Pollo Loco or KFC? I hope the former - El Pollo Loco is awesome.

Nope & Nope.

It's chicken on a bun mostly, or chicken in a salad or wrap.
They have nuggets and strips. Seems like it is all breast meat and/or mixed in rib meat.

No bones, no skin, just processed chicken white meat.

I won't be giving them a try, just not my cup of tea.

I would like it if "The Chicken Crazy" would come to town.

Some people blast KFC, and I'll admit, they abuse MSG, but they are Zagat rated as the best fried chicken. I have to agree that most sit down restaurants that offer fried chicken still aren't as good as KFC Original recipe, at least IMO. It might not be the healthiest, but it is "Finger Lickin Good".

I wasn't likely to go there anyway because I generally don't like fast-food chains. Is their food really that good?

With all of the causes and needs affecting people in this country, to put their money toward opposing gay marriage seems mis-guided at best. We all must choose our own battles, but what about fight diseases? Poverty? Ignorance? Even promoting safe sex, birth control or abstinence would be more productive and helpful to the country, IMO.

Well said. Tackle the big issues first.

As for their political stance, we thankfully live in a country where they can have those beliefs and choose to suffer the consequences when people choose to not eat there. I personally don't care in most cases. If you really cared about spending your time and money based on corporate/owner political stances, you'd probably avoid half the products/stores you already patronize.

This. I had a hearty LOL at the grandstanders proclaiming their boycott of Chick Fil A. Guarantee none of you bother to research the views of the other businesses you patronize. But on this one hot button issue you pretend to take a stand.

We need more Express Gourmet, Acorn Cafe, the Italian place that was near Express Gourmet, Urban Jacks, Sutter Street Grill, Urban Dog, Ruffhaus independent shops, less processed food chains. Miss the first three but patronize the others and several more in Folsom/EDH and nearby areas.

I would have to agree with part of that. Most of us ( no- nearly all of us I presume), have no idea what the corporate stance is for any of the millions of businesses out there.

Do our readers also know that Target has contributed to Anti-gay organizations ? And that Bank of America is similarly stanched against gays ? As are the Boy Scouts of America and many other companies and organizations...

These are not just pro christian groups but ones that have overtly reached out to limit the rights of others with their exclusions and finances.

Having said that - I do not think that your comment about 'pretend to take a stand' is accurate as you do not know the posters that have stated such. I think as some things come out about an organization or company, the public becomes more informed and can make personal choices to NOT add their dollars to those that they know have views and financially support others that have views outside ones personal allowance.

In this case I see two things- one is their anti-gay financial support ( although they have said in February that they will no longer be involved in any more political / financial support of anti- gay groups) and their hiring practices in which they have interviewees tell them of their social/ marital status and their religious background and feelings.

They lost a lawsuit back in 2002 after firing a Muslim because he would not pray with the new trainees...

So while I have no idea what Taco Bells politics and beliefs are , I know know that Chick-fil-a is an anti gay , anti non religious company... and that would mean that I would not patronize them... although I never would anyway as I am very selective in what I eat for fast food. I would rather cook at home...

Actually - I think I should try to apply there - as an agnostic gay... and see how they play that - :)

Cheers

Actually I did know that Target supported anti-gay causes, I am aware of the Boy Scouts as well. No I do not research every company, but when I do find out about one with anti-gay policies I make my personal choice not to patronize them.. I don't picket, I don't harass others not to. And if someone specifically decided to patronize them because of their anti-gay policies then that is their prerogative.

I'm confused. I don't pretend to take stands on things and yes, I do look into the companies I patronize. What would lead you to conclude that I don't? That's an honest, respectful question, not being defensive or snotty.

Should have written most instead of none. But to take this discussion a step further, would you be willing to list some businesses you do/don't patronize and the underlying political views that lead you to make those decisions?

As ChefRaven suggested...swerving back on topic... a new fast food chicken place has positive effects too with employment, biz taxes, utilities, customers, construction and more.

Church issues asside, they make a GREAT Chik sandwich and waffle fries AND they're always very polite AND they have Diet Dr. Pepper. Although I now live in Carmichael (but maintain a business address in Folsom), I look forward to their opening.

They also have a swing band based in Atlanta, GA, their headquarters (see Bible belt), and have hired me in the past to write arrangements for them. I got paid with a check AND gift certificates, good Monday thru Sat. only.

Support the arts, eat more Chikun.

I will admit that I also liked their food, back in the day, back in the South. So, did you write the jingle?

I wish I wrote the jingle. I invented the blues but Buddy Guy stole that from me too.

Buddy and everybody stole the blues from Robert Johnson, the true original.

More power to 'em. I can't recall the last time I was at a fast food chicken joint and this seems unlikely to change.
