I lived in eastside Long Beach for twenty years before moving here last year. We love living here and everyday feel more like part of the Folsom community. I do not know Cynthia personally, but she was our East Division Commander while living in Long Beach and I have nothing but good things to say about East Division LBPD. If Cynthia brings that same sense of neighborhood connection and organization to the Folsom PD This town will enjoy law enforcment second to none. I have not lived here long enough to get a good sense of the community/police relationship here but I can say it was great in East Long Beach and we felt we were working together to keep our community safe.

That's great to hear. Welcome to Folsom, by the way! If you're like most transplants, you'll love it here.

This is great news for Long Beach and not so good news for Folsom.

What Folsom's investigation probably did not uncover is

1. As a Long Beach police commander, Cynthia Renaud was part of the documented coverup of four domestic violence complaints filed against then Chief of Police, Anthony Batts, who is currently under fire as Chief of Police in Oakland.

http://www.longbeach...aspx?artID=2368

2. Commander Cynthia Renaud did not make the list of candidates considered for the new Long Beach Police Chief who eventually was hired from outside the department a year ago.

3. Cynthia Renaud took an extended leave of absence for a psychological breakdown in 1993 after being the first officer to arrive on a murder scene.

4. As President of a Long Beach Residents Association, Cmd. Renaud was the ranking office who oversaw my community. I found Ms. Renaud to be untrustworthy, evasive, disrespectful and highly political. Her untruthful statements were documented many times.

5. Cynthia Renaud frequently belittled people in a public forum who questioned the conduct of officers serving under her.

6. Cynthia Renaud refused to release the names of police officers under her command who were involved in misconduct or shootings.

7. Upon becoming Commander in 2007, Cynthia Renaud inherited meetings with the public from her predecessor that she frequently avoided and sent subordinates instead.

8. Soon after becoming Commander, Ms Renaud notified resident associations that Long Beach police representation would be reduced at future meetings.

9. Long Beach police officers question whether Ms Renaud's sex was the reason for her quick rise through the ranks.

Good luck Folsom

consider the source. btw the Beachcomber news paper that was refered to is just Les Robbin's sounding board not a respected new paper. I'm sure Folsom has it's Mike Ruehles also. I'm curious as to why the most asked question when I moved here was "why in the world did you move here"? as if Folsom was some kind of second choice. The secrets out Folsom has alot to offer,so be proud of your city.

500 miles wasn't enough to get away from people like Mike. Just google his name and consider the source. Folsom will be in good hands.

I';m having a pretty boring day, so I googled him. Yeah, this guy has WAY too much time on his hands. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are times when he is doing good, but, wow, let it go, man!

I am sure Folsom will be just fine with Ms. Renaud. Please, Mike, just busy yourself being a thorn in Long Beach's side. We'd all appreciate it.

Mr. Ruehle,

I do not know Chief Renaud, nor have I ever met her. I do, however, find it interesting that you went out of your way to slam her reputation, and attempt to tarnish her integrity - all before she even takes the helm of the F.P.D. I would believe your efforts to be sour grapes, and to be more blunt - cowardly in fashion. You come off as someone who had a prior agenda some how dismissed, by Commander Renaud, somewhere along the way, no doubt. That happens, yet you took it personally I imagine, and want to obtain a semblance of pay-back. The following are a few flags, which raise scrutiny of your posted allegations... (Both in the Sac.Bee, and now here in this forum.)

1) As Commander (*promoted in 2007)... 4 documented cover up's of D.V's against COP...

Per print available, there were 5 incidents which were alleged. 3 incidents occurred between 1995 to 2002 (8 yrs. ago). 2 incidents were listed in outside jurisdictions - L.A.P.D., and S.D.P.D. I don't think Renaud was a Commander then, and was not part of the decision making at the time. (The City fathers, who should have known of those incidents, still put Batts in as COP in 2002. Shame on them, not on Renaud.)

2) Renaud... did not make the list of candidates for COP of L.B.P.D.

Alright, she didn't make the list. That happens in the game of life. That obviously didn't stop Renaud from trying, did it? Renaud certainly made the COP list this time, and while competing against some very talented individuals.

3) Renaud took extended mental health leave, in 1993... due to being first to arrive at the scene of a murder...?

Why would you even go there? Are you implying a weakness of some sort? Being on scene of death and destruction, committed intentionally, or by accident, can at times be very, very damaging to ones psych. I believe that the true test of Renaud's fortitude, as a street cop, is that she overcame the demons - and got back in the saddle again, prepared for the next time - and there always is a next time while doing the job..!

4) *We can skip this one, perhaps, as it is your subjective view as a 'President,' of an H.O.A. and you were not able to steer all of your requests and demands through the Commander, with your desired outcome. Happens now and then - everywhere.

5) Renaud 'frequently... belittled people in a public forum who questioned the conduct of officers...' under her command.

Having been a participant of these types of 'forums' in the past, could it be that the message of the.. 'question (complaint) of conduct..' was heard loud and clear by Renaud, however, the Commander was not willing to... hold court on her subordinates, in a public forum, while being pressed, without first looking into all available information? Sounds like a good boss, to me.

6) Renaud.... 'refused to release names of officers... involved in misconduct, or shootings.'

That is protocol with most all agencies, and is not out of the norm. The names of the subjects are cleared for release, should they be found in violation of the law in regards to the incident in question. Renaud should not be faulted for following regulations and protocol.

7) As Commander, Renaud... 'inherited meetings with the public... which she frequently avoided and sent subordinates instead.'

Why is that a bad thing? As a Commander, charged with overseeing several divisions from within, I'm sure at times they're pulled in several directions at once. Besides, a good boss will provide opportunities to their charges, to gain experience and personal growth, in being a part of such assignments. Sometimes people refer to it as 'mentoring,' and yet, some people take it as a slight.... Come on, man, this complaint is more personal for you, than it is a reflection of Renaud's short comings.

8) Soon after becoming Commander... Renaud advised resident assoc.'s (H.O.A.'s) that L.B.P.D. representation at meetings would be 'reduced..' at future meetings.

Renaud (2007) 'reduced' attendance, but did not eliminate their attendance. Was this the beginning of budget reductions? I believe so. Perhaps it was prudent of the Commander to tighten and better manage her budget. Sounds like she remained responsive to the needs of your HOA, but probably needed to reduce the expense of doing so? Again, the sign of a good boss. Reduce costs, but don't leave no one high and dry.

9) L.B. officers question whether (Renaud's) 'sex... was the reason for her quick rise through the ranks.'

You're digging deep here, pal. We could have fun with this approach to Renaud's success, I guess, since you place stock in those demeaning assertions. After all, it would require less brain power - and admittedly - make for a better 'knuckle-dragger' conversation within your circles, no doubt. And for those sources of yours who offered that up as a reason for Renaud's successes, they quite possibly use that way of thinking so they don't have to consider their own short comings... (no pun intended.) Enough said.

I welcome Chief Renaud, and wish her the best of success in her new position at the F.P.D...!!

Be safe....

That throw away junk paper has zero credibility, unless you're looking for a good head shop in Belmont Shores.

You'll notice Mike is a hit and run poo stirring drama queen, he doesnt have the brass to post again and backup any of his bogus allegations

Thank You Sane people of Folsom. Unfortunatly Long Beach has alot of Mike types and frankly their activities curtailed alot of needed redevelopment and order that their city needs.Long Beach never lacks for drama.I believe more can come out of sane dialog then over the top drama.

at times in the old soldiers adventures he has had to go to home owner and community associaton meetings along with PTA and with his keen powers of observation thinks these groups often attract nuts who may not be allowed to speak at home or work because they are nuts, but at these meetings, nuts can blaze away...this guy ruehle reminds old soldier of painful meetings in his past.
