I was watching some of the success stories at http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/mikebwallace?bctid=2958501001, wowwww
I noticed there were lots of different programs on the website. Is there a recommended program for women, or can/should they also do the P90X program like you?

If you're very fit go straight for the P90X. They have a P90 workout program that can be used to work up to the P90X program. I have the P90 program but have no follow through and the couch has been more comfy lately.
That's the problem, I'm not very fit and I'm in physical therapy. I don't know if I can or should do a work out like this. It looks really tempting. And I'm moving that way, towards being able to do a regular work out at the gym, or get back on my bike, but very slowly....

Hi Caligirlz! That's a great question, P90X is very high intensity. They do have people who show you how to modify the exercises (which is what I did for the first month or so). Each DVD actually has at least one woman (some older some younger) doing the same thing the 'boys' are doing :-)
Beachbody also has a product called Power 90. It's the first version they did and has a ton of great exercises, just less intensified.
You can check all that stuff out through my beachbody coach profile at: http://www.beachbody...om/mikebwallace
Thanks for the question!

I will say this, I was extremely out of shape when I started. 210 pounds, borderline high blood pressure, high resting heart rate, high cholesterol, and a 38" waist. The DVDs show you how to modify, modify, modify. I will say one my favorite Tony Horton quotes, "Do your best and forget the rest". Doing something is better than doing nothing :-)
Check out my before/after results at: http://www.traveling...e_and_After.php. I have recently updated with my brother-in-law's 45 day pics.
Thanks everyone!

One other thing Cali, I should have mentioned... Beachbody has a ton of different workout routines (not just the Power 90 or P90X series), some of which are specially designed for women, take a peek through the link above.

If you try something like this Cali, you'll see that from week to week you can do a little more and a little more. I still laugh when Tony talks about a one-armed pushup and fast forward when he says we'll be doing "crane" in Yoga for a full minute.

Ha ha, agreed. I play my ipod instead of listening to the same quotes over and over and over again.Old Doc Horton gets a little annoying after a few workouts. Cheeseburger Bad!!! Yep, I get it. I have to do them with the sound down.

Thanks Mike, I will check it out again.
I did send the website to my PT & will see him again on Friday. I'm just now getting to the point where I have mobility in my shoulders & neck, and can do basic weight lifting while maintaining proper posture & shoulder blade stability.

Finished day 50 of P90X today, and I think sometimes that I can actually see a 2-pack. I agree with travelworkoutMike that on those days that I feel like sleeping in or skipping for one of many excuses that I am always glad that I "pushed play". It's very energizing.

Congratulations Tessieca! My brother-in-law is right about the same place as you. I'm on day 118 or so now, and just this morning I woke up and had to argue with myself to get Kenpo playing :-) I'm on the road and have to 'entertain' late every night but I'm really glad I pushed play this morning.

LOL... My favorite tip of the day, "Don't smash your face!"

As you've read in recent posts, I am currently traveling and still haven't missed a day of P90X. Today was Core Synergystics (2nd round - week 8 recovery week) and I decided to go to the resort gym because CS has a couple of workouts that require either weight bands or free weights. I decided to go with the free weights today and with the 50lb limit on luggage... and the $875 I could have spent to have them checked, I chose not to pack my own :-)
As I walk into the Saratoga Springs gym in Orlando, Florida with my push-up stands (prison push-ups, walking push-ups, plank to chaturunga iso, etc.), my yoga mat, and my company issued black Dell laptop, the gym attendant sort of looks at me funny and asks, "Excuse me sir, do you watch movies while you're working out?" Straight faced, I gave the simple answer, "Yes Ma'am," and continued on up the stairs and to the left.
So, I find a corner of the gym and settle in. I see people on the elliptical, exercise bikes, and doing who knows what on the other machines. Nobody is really sweating, and a couple of men who appear close to my age are pumping up their guns (3 sets of 10... I'm out). First comes the warm-up, and I get a few odd looks. Some of the stretches are a bit 'aerobic' looking, but I ignore the stares. One guy even sort of smirked and chuckled. If you've seen this P90X DVD, the warm-up is about 10 minutes, and then the crazy stuff comes.
First off are stack foot, stagger hand push-ups. You put one hand in normal push-up position, the other hand slides down toward your rib cage and your fingers point inwards which causes your elbow to flare out. Not an easy move, but not the most difficult. The guy jumping rope walks by twice and checks out my laptop pretty much incognito. Now I'm down on my back doing banana rolls. This is where you lie on your back and put your feet and hands up in the air (which tightens your entire mid-section/core) and you roll over to your right side, onto your stomach, onto your left side, and then onto your back again. You roll like this for over two minutes. As I'm doing this, another lady comes over and starts doing normal crunches, but again needs to take a peek at the 'movie' I'm watching.
As I move through squat run, sphinx push-ups, and bow to boat, I get the sense that I'm being watched. I couldn't help but laugh, with my inside voice of course. A few exercises later come prison cell push-ups. These consist of doing a push-up, bringing your right knee to your chest, another push-up, left knee to chest, another push-up, and then jumping up to your feet. You do this over and over again. Finally, the jump rope guy gets the nerve to ask me what I'm doing so I say, "Ever heard of P90X". He had, so I directed him to my http://www.travelingworkout.com/ site for more information.
No joke, this happened 3 more times and it seemed to happen after the most unusual exercises (The Drey-A Roll, Superman Banana, and Reach High & Under Push-ups). Anyways, I get the feeling that they saw something more interesting than what they were doing and had the courage to come up and ask a complete stranger about what I was doing. I hope they choose to give it a shot, it's an awesome set of workouts, and more importantly, the vast difference in the types of workouts keeps the muscle confusion coming and you avoid hitting that plateau that most people generally hit after a while of doing the same thing over and over.

I emailed you. I love that any old person can do this. I'm not a spring chicken, and I'm a girl, but I was able to work up to doing several things that I couldn't at the beginning of the 90 days (including a pull up even though I always said I could never do a pullup unless I were to lose 35 pounds). Since you work out in private, you don't have to compare yourself to anyone but last week's self. Sometimes it would seem like there was no difference/ improvement, and then there would be a big change to keep pushing me along. I'm thinking of joining the second-rounders but haven't mentally gotten there yet. Less expensive than a lot of sports.I'm having difficulty with the pm portion on my acct. I'm interested in getting any P90x advice before I make a decision from those who have attempted the program or completed it once or twice. Anything you can recommend, tips, or how successful you were with your initial goals with P90X. Please email me at knels808@yahoo.com. Travelworkout, I've thoroughly reviewed your pix update/ video and blog and its great research, just looking for more reviewers insight who are in the middle of their 90 days or have completed the program once or twice. Thanks.
Note to travelworkout: I admire that you did CS at a gym, in public. That is the wackiest video!

You can use a band, but I was pretty psyched when I could finally pull my own weight, if you know what I mean. We just got one that we put in the laundry room doorway, so I rush out of the room while the video plays, do my thing and come back. I use a chair when necessary and use negatives a lot (where you help yourself up with the chair but do a very slow descent without chair help.tessieca, I just emailed you a response. Thanks so much. So I was thinking about skipping the pull up portion but now with your post do I need a pull up bar afterall?
No other way to do it otherwise? I'm pretty excited to give it a go.

Wow, I haven't been on here in a while! Looks like everyone is doing great. I've now made it through 2 rounds of P90X and am on my 5th week of Insanity (another crazy one!). If you have any questions feel free to contact me at mike@travelingworkout.com. I'll send you an email follow-up too!
