I didn't know any of the people killed, but I can say that I have been most affected by the chipping away bit by bit of our OWN freedom by Washington DC. And the false sense of security it is supposed to give to us.

10 years ago today, I woke to find Rosemary getting the girls ready for school. She was combing Stef's hair, Jenny was watching a music video. I fired up the computer and my first thought was that it was some kind of joke. I guess my brain rejected the notion of 2 planes crashing into the WTC. Reading a further I realized it was real. I ran to the TV and switched to the Today show. My faith in mankind was forever changed. I still believe in the good of man, but the unspeakable horror we are capable of was just beginning to come to light. Looking back, I wish there was a way of sheltering my kids from the images of that morning, as it was too much for them to understand. Thoughts and prayers to all of the victims and their families. I hope we never see another day like that, anywhere in the world against anybody.

I was listening to 'The Cowboy Libertarian' today on KFBK. One of the things he mentioned, and I'm paraphrasing here, is that in the initial aftermath of 9/11, the country was united, but in the years since, the country stands more divided than ever, with many people withdrawing to their 'camps', focusing on differences instead of reminding ourselves that we all have so much in common.

Sad but true.

I didn't know anyone immediately affected by the tragedies, but I have relatives and friends I'm proud to support as they continue to work to keep us safe via the military and law enforcement. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! :PATRIOT:

I was listening to the radio on the way to work that morning, and I remember hearing that one of the towers of the WTC was gone. I thought to myself, how could it be gone. Certainly this was just media hype. It's not gone, no way. After arriving at work, I found out that both towers were indeed GONE. It was difficult to grasp the thought. It still is.

We just visited this past weekend - didn't realize how much it would affect us to walk from Wall Street over to World Trade, playing out in our minds all the people running the opposite direction that morning...
