actually I think its pretty darn safe in Folsom. the good news is that they're on it fast and the bad guys get that message pretty quick.

hey, at least we're not Stockton. they have a shooting a day, it seems.

True, very true! Stockton is the worse!
And yes, I have to hand it to our great police force that get right on it and do a great job.
I guess I hate feeling like I have to go into my house, and lock all the doors two or three times a week. I've begin to think about what I can carry around while in my yard, to protect myself.
Nobody should have to live with these thoughts, while paying high mortgages.
Sorry, it's just unacceptable to me.

So if you don't pay a high mortgage you deserve police dogs & helicopters? That doesn't sound right.
I'm not saying things aren't bad out there. There is a lot more petty theft going on, but I hate to see you worrying too much. I doubt anyone in Folsom is being forced to lock their doors and stay inside two or three times a week. You would have been perfectly safe going to Walmart last night. It would have just been a hassle getting there.
If you absolutely feel the need to arm yourself in your yard, I recommend bear spray you can get at REI. Just warn your husband to announce when he's going out into the yard so he doesn't startle you.

its when you don't hear anything, that's when you need to worry!

just kidding, you are safe as can be in Folsom and you don't need to worry about defending yourself in your own backyard. besides, you can chose to live in fear or chose to live in happiness. chose happiness. being afraid doesn't make you any safer.

Maxine this really is "Holsom Folsom" There are many places that are worse. I do think that it is not as safe as 12 years ago when I moved here. I think that ever since the trolly came through town, it got worse. We do have a good police force. If one little thing goes wrong, they got a whole force on it. Unlike other areas where they can't put that much manpower to one incident because there are so many things going wrong in the area. Sorry to hear that you feel unsafe. Maybe you need a dog who can warn you or scare off people.

a dog is a good idea, keeps you safe and can be a buddy as well. when the helicopters are flying low and there are lots of police cars are around best to keep the dog inside because if the police are chasing someone and they are jumping over fences on a chase and the police go into a yard and the dog goes after them (like a dog should do if somebody comes in your yard) they sometimes shoot the dog.Maxine this really is "Holsom Folsom" There are many places that are worse.
