The franchisee for both filed for chapter 11 re-org, still operating but I would guess they are not thinking of expanding right now.I thought I read that Strikes in Rocklin or Elk Grove was bankrupt??

Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Green Acres in a 30,000 ft building plus other acreage ? Based on their existing business in two location with buildings around 4000 to 8000 sq ft plus outside space, I cannot understand how they could possibly use the new location and be financially profitable. Most Nurseries have a much smaller inside foot print and unless they are planning to compete with Lowes and HD for 'hard goods' , which I would think would be impossible, I think they might be making a big financial mistake in taking up the Circuit City location. I am sure outside storage for planting and landscape materials is much cheaper than a newly built 30,000 sq ft building...
Also from what I have seen at the Roseville Green Acres, they are not even near the class of plants and trees that Capital Nursery or Bushnell Gardens offer...

Home Depot, Lowes and OSH. There's a nursery on Douglas in Granite Bay, and at Madison/Sunrise in Citrus Heights. I think those are the 2 closest true nurseries.
Also, the article in the OP said Green Acres would open in May, not March.

It's March. May would be like a ToyRus opening on December 26th. They will be open to collect the entire spring season.

I'm looking forward to this!As big as some big-box stores, Green Acres' new Folsom location will have some of that one-stop feel, but focused on one specific area: Outdoor living. Patio furniture and barbecues will be featured, along with perennials and fertilizer.
Shuttered eight months after it opened, the 30,000- square-foot former electronics store has undergone a green makeover, which will cost about $1.2 million when complete. Workers enlarged doors to 12 feet tall to accommodate potted trees. A massive arbor will shade outdoor shrubs and bedding plants. A 13,500-square-foot greenhouse is to go up next week.

So this is what they are going to do with all that extra space....
I'm looking forward to this!
