That article did not say anything about a 20% return rate. Did you just make that up?

That is not truthful and you know it. There is not a 20% return rate. That was made up out of thin air.

No it's not made up. It's an estimate based on the reviews and historical data of returns based on reviews. Amazon will never tell us the real # but an accurate estimate can be made. It's anywhere from 15-20%. While I may not be able to prove it to your satisfaction (as if that's ever possible), you cannot disprove the # either. Deal with it, it's happening.

Don't be mad that you bought a crummy psuedo-Android-like tablet and got taken, you weren't the only one!

First, the real figure for 1 and 2 star reviews is 17.5% for the Kindle Fire, not 20%. You might think that is terrible, except 20.8% of the iPad's reviews are 1 or 2 stars. Who is the failure now? That must mean there have been millions of iPad returns based on your fuzzy math!

Also, there is no such thing as "historical data of returns based on reviews." That author simply made up a figure and hoped nobody would fact-check him/her.

Making a claim that x% of the reviews written by people who bothered to write a review are negative (for a product they may not have ever even seen), therefore x% of all people who purchased said product must have returned it......is one of the most dubious claims I have ever seen. How are you falling for that?

I saw a product on Amazon the other day with 100% 5 star reviews. I guess that must mean nobody has ever returned it, right? It would have to be based on your math!

I know of some pretty happy Kindle owners. My niece and my BF love theirs. I think the key is your expectations from it. They both bought it mainly as a Kindle but enjoy the tablet bonuses. I've been thinking of getting one too as an update to my ancient Kindle (which I still love). I can't justify the cost of an iPad and I like the Kindle reading screen better. The price tag is doable. I'm just not going to expect it to be an iPad. It'll be more like my Kindle, but I can watch movies on it and prop it up in the kitchen to display recipes when I'm cooking. Well worth $200.

Nope, that was for you and your "HUGE" difference between 17.5% and 20%
LOL!

I only wrote that because the iPad has a worse review percentage than the Kindle Fire.....and that is the product that nomad was claiming was significantly better based on the reviews. You did notice he/she did not bother to respond to that revelation, didn't you?

So you're saying the Kindle Fire is better than the iPad? Now THAT is a dubious claim! LOL!

But coming from the only person to ever had had trouble with every Apple product ever made it's not unexpected.

No, I am not saying that now nor did I before. Both have positives and both have negatives. I own both, unlike you, so I feel that I am able to better see each aspect of the devices. I have never had an issue with my iPad, and I am writing this on a Macbook Air that also has not had any issues.

You still are backing your dubious math from before, eh?

I think you should back off a bit on RPO - he/she is just identifying the differences in numbers that were posted and questioning the logic of using ratings as 'return' figures...

I do not recall anyone saying the Fire is better than a Ipad... they are different animals for different purposes and they should never be compared to each other...

The Fire ( as posted by CW and others ) serves its users to improve on the Kindle with more ...

The Ipad is a very different machine...

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

The problem with the kindle fire is the user who wants it to be a cheap iPad. You, not you specifically, are a complete idiot who didn't do there homework if you even remotely think or compare the fire to an iPad. The fire is an ereader with some tablet capabilities.

Bingo! I have the Fire and its great for all the reasons RPO posted.

For all the Apple fanboy/girls, go spend the extra $350 so you can sip coffee at Starbucks and look cool (kidding of course, not really).

I use it for reading and quick reference/access to the web. Was tough to make the switch from an actual book, but worth the $200.

I thought I'd miss books more than I do, but the fact that I can get almost any new book I want at 9pm on a Sunday night more than makes up for it.

LOL - CW - I just noticed that on your posts - to the left with your info you are listed as Male ... Hardly :)

On the topic- I would even think that the large sales of the Fire will increase the Ipad and other tablets sales in the future as users go beyond the books and news feeds on it to step into the realm of the things they cannot get on the Fire...
But I still think the Fire has a great place for its purpose...

He doesn't need to respond, the iPad is better, you know it. Unless of course your last three iPads burst into flames because your house is possessed...
