No it's not made up. It's an estimate based on the reviews and historical data of returns based on reviews. Amazon will never tell us the real # but an accurate estimate can be made. It's anywhere from 15-20%. While I may not be able to prove it to your satisfaction (as if that's ever possible), you cannot disprove the # either. Deal with it, it's happening.
Don't be mad that you bought a crummy psuedo-Android-like tablet and got taken, you weren't the only one!
First, the real figure for 1 and 2 star reviews is 17.5% for the Kindle Fire, not 20%. You might think that is terrible, except 20.8% of the iPad's reviews are 1 or 2 stars. Who is the failure now? That must mean there have been millions of iPad returns based on your fuzzy math!
Also, there is no such thing as "historical data of returns based on reviews." That author simply made up a figure and hoped nobody would fact-check him/her.
Making a claim that x% of the reviews written by people who bothered to write a review are negative (for a product they may not have ever even seen), therefore x% of all people who purchased said product must have returned it......is one of the most dubious claims I have ever seen. How are you falling for that?
I saw a product on Amazon the other day with 100% 5 star reviews. I guess that must mean nobody has ever returned it, right? It would have to be based on your math!
