Yes, the new amphitheater is pretty awesome. I saw the Pink Floyd tribute band there last weekend, with laser light show. I don't know much of Pink Floyd's music, so don't know how close they were to the original, but they seemed pretty good.Sutter Street has its own amphitheater now too... You can hit Palladio on Weds, EDH on Thurs, Concert in the Park on Friday and Second Saturday on Sutter Street if you time it right. Folsom has a lot of great offerings, always something to do!
I hope the Historic District gets a calendar together with regular performances.

I spoke to the folks at Palladio today. The concerts will be in the Piazza. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Thanks, Steve. I emailed them and never got a reply.

Is that the area with the large fountains & sculptures just down from the multi story building? I didn't notice a designated stage.I spoke to the folks at Palladio today. The concerts will be in the Piazza. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Am I the only one not enamored with 'tribute' bands? Do we really need more of them? I know there are tons of original bands out there. Would be nice to see them instead.
My guess is they are harder to come by. Most tribute bands are just a collection of people with day jobs who like a certain band. It's much more difficult and uncommon to find people who actually write their own music...

I think that in order to get a crowd out and on the budget they have, venues offering free concerts want and can only afford bands that play familiar tunes. Is this any different from a classical group playing Beethoven or a jazz group playing the music of Miles or Duke Ellington?
Yes it is. I guess they'll fit us in somewhere. Is that the area with the large fountains & sculptures just down from the multi story building? I didn't notice a designated stage.

With this line up you got your wish no Tribute bands! If you had a choice would you go see a Tribute band or Hip Hop?
I agree, there are plenty of bands out there and some will play for reduced rates for community events like this.
I've been hearing quite a few comments and concerns about what is scheduled. I guess some have very short memories.
