I can't believe it!!! The place was often busy while we were there.

What I will miss most is the ambiance. The lighting... cozy booths... etc. You could actually have a quiet conversation in there, unlike so many places that are designed to keep noise levels at a dull roar.

Bummer!

Guess I'll have to resume driving a little further to Cattleman's for my steakhouse steak fix.

I suppose I'd been there half a dozen times for happy hour and half a dozen for dinner since I moved here five years ago. The entrees were okay but never exceptional. All the grilled steaks were fine. I did have one dish there that wasn't too good, a slow roasted steak that had sort of a pasty consistency rather than the pull-apart I was wanting. That was about two years ago.

Last time we went, we ordered the filets. There was a bone. I tried to explain there are no bones in a filet. They told me it was a 'bigger filet' than most people were used to. I asked if it was a porterhouse or a t-bone they were trying to serve me. Needless to say, last trip there......

You people are being WAY too critical. If you expect to get great steak, (Ha Ha), then spend your money at some of the other places in town...but, ALSO expect to spend 3-4 times the money for it (i.e., Sutter Street Steakhouse, Outback....whatever). I personally think my husband grills the best steak in town for about $4.00 for a New York from SaveMart!!!!!

We were "regulars" at TJs...........I feel so bad for all of the "kids" that worked there. I considered that place sort of like a "Cheers Bar".....everybody knew your name..............Sure, the food may have not been the best, but, would you seriously consider driving to Roseville to support this chain? After all, the parent company is "Hometown Buffet"....I don't think so. If the corporate "gurus" decide to move in and set up a Hometown Buffet here in Folsom, I think I'll consider moving out of town. Linda

I have to agree with the others... TJ's food quality has gone downhill over the last several years. We stopped eating there some time ago, not because it was BAD per se, but because many better restaurants have moved into the area and competed for my dollars. I recall talking to a waiter at Lucille's in Roseville who used to work at TJ's and told me that they switched meat suppliers some time ago and started buying lower-cost/lower-quality meats shortly before he quit. It sure tasted that way.

So, while it's tough to see a familiar place close shop, on the other hand it's good for us consumers that new restaurants are moving in and competing for our business.

I was never a fan of Tahoe Joes. If I want fantastic steak, I have no problem paying primo $$ at Sutter St Grill or any of the other places who know their cuts & how to cook them, or I will grill it at home.

I do feel sad that another local business has bit the dust...especially for the employees.

It was only a few block from my house and from my office; I only went there for either the potato/salad combo at lunch or sometimes for a steak pick up dinner. I'd get the small marinated sirloin with the mixed greens salad. I'd eat half the steak that night and slice the other half to out on top of the salad to have the next day for lunch. I'm not a huge steak eater, but this would fit the bill for me since I'd fet two steak meals for under $20. A customer like me wasn't going to keep them in business, I didn't do it that often and their profit margin on me wasn't that high.

Oh well, I just got laid off anyway so any steaks I eat will be cooked on my own grill!

Don't worry, you'll still be able to get a crappy steak at Cattlemen's. Applebee's and now here!! Where are we gonna go now to get less than mediocre food?!

let's not kick a place when its down. Tahoe Joe's was a good family place to eat. And the employees worked hard to make sure the customer was happy. I will miss them.

I miss the things you thought it was. However, it wasn't and that's why it is gone.

If you want the worst steak, try Chilli's. I think they boil it.

I am entitled to my opinion. I ate there two months ago and it was what I remember it being. I would have gone there again. I guess I'm not as persnickety as some are.
