This type of "music" has been around for years in the drunken cowboy scene...I'd say since at least the urban cowboy era.

It is not ALL that bad... just most of it...

Went in last night, a Tuesday evening!!, about 6:30 for dinner. There was an hour wait for a table, so we "lucked out" and found 3 seats at the bar, right in front of the stage, YIKES!!!! After 15 min, bartender (one of the scantily clad females, wearing denim bootie shorts and tiny little tank top...."Hooters only in black") stopped by for our drink order. 20 minutes later she asked us if we wanted to order food. They were "out of" the first 4 appetizers we ordered, finally settled on 2 side dishes, just to get something to eat. We ordered a steak sand ("oh, we are out of that, too"), a burger, chicken sand and nachos. Bartender came by one time during the next hour to check on our drink status, the band started playing, why they feel the need for a live band at 7:00 on a weeknight is beyond me, must be my "advanced maturity" talking!!

55 minutes later and we still had no food, not even the sides, we asked one of the male bar assistant guys (dressed in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt, like all the males!!....just saying.....how sexist is that??!!) if he could find out how much longer for our food. He checked in the kitchen and apologized that it would be at least another 30 minutes!!!!! We asked him to cancel the order, so he took our check and gave it to a manager. Food was taken off the bill....NO manager ever came by to apologize, offer an explanation, try to get us to come back another time, nothing, never saw the mgr again.....truly got the sense that nobody cared if they got our money, lost our business, etc!!!

IMO, It is a horrible joke of a restaurant.....!! I've worked in restaurants for over 10 years, opened numerous new restaurants for 2 nationwide chains....There are a few unwritten (or written in some companies!!) rules re: opening a new restaurant......you are READY for opening!! You OVER staff and OVER order your food/supplies!!! You provide beyond-excellent service for the first few weeks!! This place did none of the above!!!! So disappointing to see such a big, cool place with a lot of potential be such a blow-it!!!!!

On a side note....spoke with one of the girls re: hiring....all of the girls, and ONLY the girls, as part of their "application" process, were required to create a Facebook page with pictures of themselves dressed in bootie shorts, boots, low cut shirts, etc.....!!!! WTH???!!! And they were told after hiring that they only hire good looking people....!!!!!

Yeah, my friend told me that she had gone to two interviews for this resturant and at the second interview they were told to create a Facebook page promoting the bar before they even technically were employed. They would be chosen by who ever had the most friends, posts, likes etc. I cannot understand why people would be willing to put forth all of that effort for a job that makes less than 25k a year? Sadly, this company seems to prey on people who are desperate for work.

I understand wanting your employees to look good and be appealing, after all it is a bar/resturant. I just think that hiring all those "good looking" people has backfired in their face. After all, if you cannot seem to manage a kitchen properly, there is little to no use for all the eye candy.

I love Toby Keith but how this company recruits employees makes me question his slimeball factor. I hope this is just some corporate dweebs idea of what makes for an exciting new bar and has little or no involvement from the country singer.

I wish they put a Yard House in that spot instead of Toby Keith's. They better get their act together quickly if they want to stay in business. Clearly all they care about is the alcohol sales since that is where they get their money.

What a really bad start to a restaurant with so much fanfare and anticipation. I know it usually takes a month of so to work out the kinks, but by the sound of it, management doesn't seem to care too much about the long waits, out of food (appetizers??come on) and other basics. Or even have the professional courtesy to apologize for all these problems. 1 hour wait and food that takes almost as long to get....? No thanks, too many good pubs/bars that care about the customer to spend at Toby Keith's. I'll spend my $$$ at Streets of London or Lockdown.

I've seen this mistake made over and over in recent years. Many restaurants have and some still do have dry runs and one of those freebie days by invitation only, where customers get to order for free so the staff can get the flow of things. Some even do it as a fund raiser.

I know there was a lot of pressure to get the place open, but had Toby's done that, I think things would have run more smoothly.

As for the girls and their outfits, mixed feelings. I happen to like girls and some look pretty nice in those outfits, but I wouldn't want my daughter working there. I do know someone who is very proud that her daughter is one of the 'Whiskey Girls'.

My quasi-feminist daughter, who I'm sure would look the part if she wanted to, was offended when she found out that in order to apply, you had to submit a picture, and then had to create a Facebook page. She questions the legality of discriminating against women who don't look the part. She asked me, 'what happens if one of them gains weight, will she get fired?' I told he that I did see one who seemed overweight, she asked, "So they hire one fat one to prove they don't discriminate?"

I can't speak to the legality issue, but I do know that men, and many women as well like having pretty girls as part of the dining/bar experience. It's no different than Hooter's, or if you remember way back when, The Peppermill waitresses wore long white evening gowns slit up to the hip and were required to sit down whenever possible, when taking an order.

I am sure that this place will eventually work the kinks out, and I don't expect the kind of service you might get at Land Ocean or Sienna.

Employers are no longer allowed to monitor employee's (or applicant's) social networking pages. This is a very slippery slope that is enabling employers to see what an employee posts, what their friends post to them, etc.... all under the guise of seeing how committed you are to promoting them. It's a slimy employment practice at best.

I agree! seems like they are intruding into their employees personal life. dang, Toby. where is that freedom you're singin' about?

I always wondered how they got around hiring discrimination laws at these kind of places - Hooters, Tilted Kilt, Big Wangs, and the like. I've heard they call it an audition(not interview), they are entertainers first (servers second), and it is a costume(not a uniform.) I don't know if that's true, but it might explain some of the problems with food service.

isn't there a bar up in EDH along Green Valley Road and Francisco that also promotes the sexy cowgirl thing? No one said anything about that when it started up, as I recall. In fact, I think there is another bar like that in Folsom too. I don't like it, but its not fair to single this new restaurant out because of it.

How about In-n-Out? Ever see a kid in there with tat's or males wearing earrings? Seems they do a similar type of hiring.
