We are currently a few days into our 30 day trial of Hulu Plus (using Apple tv in one room and my son's XBox 360 in his room) to get tons of network tv shows & movies. It's $7.99 a month. Still cheaper than the $100+ we were paying Comcast.

And it will work great until your ISP starts throttling your service.

I wouldn't be surprised...that's the way it usually goes for me! We DO have the highest speed Comcast offers though (I think it's called Blast?) and pay an extra $20 a month for it.

We got a signal amplifier from Frye's last night for $30. Hooked it up. Several digital channels were added for us, but still has some freezing glitches on Channel 3 & 10. Not really sure about the other channels yet since I rarely watch them. My hubby cranked up the knob to max on the device and it actually took AWAY all channels but 2, so he turned it down halfway and we receive about 40. I guess I need to work on my Spanish & other foreign languages though.....

what is it with Channel 3 and 10? we all have trouble with that. Do they need to boost their signal? are we in a wierd spot for their transmitters? has anyone checked with them to figure it out? My two favorite shows are on those stations!!

Yes, it got to the point where we couldn't stream anything anymore. We signed up for basic service with them, downgraded our Internet and now we can stream everything with no problems.

I have a daughter who is married and she and her husband are struggling. They have two kids and have disconnected from cable.

I’d love to know how to help her get more channels without cable. They have an antenna on their roof, but only get a few channels and I think three of them are in Spanish only.

Can anyone tell me if she will get additional channels from installing an amplifier?

Does she have to have a digital antenna to install a digital amplifier?

Oh gosh, I'm not sure. I've already tossed the box. It's fairly small....about 2' wide. Old-school metal style, like the ones people used to mount outside their houses pre-cable. How's that for a girl's description??
