Unfortunately I won't be able to make it; kids will be finishing up trick or treating then. Welcome home!

TIME CHANGE!!!!!
Due to the hurricane flights have been delayed... so, his plane will be arriving around 7:10pm, and coming by Scott Rd at around 8:00pm give or take. I hope more people can make it since it is not during normal working hours. See you there! I will post any more changes if they occur. Thanks everyone!
Final info!Passing it along. I'll still be at the bridge as well!:
His flight is still set to arrive in Sacramento at 7:10pm tomorrow (10/31/12). He will travel via limousine and will be escorted by the American Legion Riders, the Patriot Guard Riders, the Combat Veterans' Motorcycle Association, CHP and the EDC Sheriff & his honor guard. They will proceed directly to the Veteran's Memorial Building in Placerville where his family will pick up their cars. The family will then leave since the reception has been postponed.
It would be wonderful to have the cheering public at the Veteran's Memorial Building that evening!
The estimated time of their arrival at the Veterans Memorial Building in Placerville (130 Placerville Drive) might be anywhere between 8:20-9:00 pm.
The homecoming reception & luncheon for Doug is now planned for this Friday, Nov. 2nd, from 1-3pm and will be at the Veteran's Memorial Building. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this rain or shine event

A friend sent this to me via the Union Mine Principal.

This is a “recap” of the Mission by the Patriot Guard Riders:
As a result of a schedule change caused by the East Coast storm SPC Douglas Harris arrived at the Sacramento Airport the evening of October 31, 2012, Halloween. Despite it being Halloween 74 persons were there to welcome home this wounded warrior. The 74 persons consisted of more than 50 PGR members, VFW members, the Combat Vets Assoc., and the American Legion. The El Dorado County Sherriff and two of his honor guard also joined our flag line on the baggage level of terminal B.
In addition two Airport Fire Department personnel assisted SPC Harris from the plane ramp to the top of the main escalator where he was met by his father, Charles, and his sister, Jessica. His mother had traveled with Douglas from Walter Reed Hospital. Our piper was also there at the top of the escalator and accompanied them on the ride down piping all the way.
Passengers who rode the escalator down at the same time “clapped” for Douglas all the way and passengers on level two also came near the escalator and “clapped”. Additionally this mission was well attended by media personnel from Channels 3, 10, and 13. The Sacramento Bee and the Mountain Democrat newspapers also covered this mission.
When the group on the escalator cleared the second level, Douglas saw the semi-circle of our flag line, about 10 of his family and friends and a number of passengers who had gathered with us. There were nine (9) First timers with us. After the initial greeting of Douglas we had him stand still as each member of the flag line passed by him and offered their personal greetings. They then proceed outside to form a second flag line at the limo reserved for Douglas. Douglas and his family were quite touched by all who attended to honor his service.
As the ride Captain for this mission I was so impressed that so many turned-out on a Halloween evening which had the threat of rain. Additionally I’d like to thank Bill Tubbs who agreed to pipe at the last minute, it was Bill’s first PGR mission. I was also impressed by Douglas and his family, wonderful people. Douglas’s spirits were high and it is remarkable how he is handling his life changing wounds. He lost his legs to an IED in May 2012 and he was able to walk and travel on the escalator with little assistance. Douglas and his family had great things to say about rehabilitation at Walter Reed Hospital.
