Like I said, as long as you're cool with your kids hearing occasional cussing and adult conversations it's all good.
You've really taken your kids over a hundred times to the bar at Red Robbin? Wow! Is it that hard to get a regular table there or do you just prefer having the quicker access to the beer and alcohol at the bar?
"You've really taken your kids over a hundred times to the bar at Red Robin?" Yea probably, About once a month for the last decade, There's not too many places in town to take kids out for mac& cheese and onion rings.

If you're going "to the bar" at Chili's or Red Robin instead of an actual bar (of which Folsom has many) then it's time to reexamine your life.

I admit to taking my kids to BWW (I still want to call it BW3, anyone remember them that way?) because I don't have cable and we are big sports fans. One time my son and I sat in the bar area because there was a long wait for tables and we were just watching the last quarter of the Wisconsin/Nebraska game (last season). I had iced tea; he had a lemonade. Then one other Saturday afternoon early in this year's season, I took my son and my daughter to watch a Wisconsin game. We sat at a table with very few people around, watched games, and played each other in trivia. I, again, had an iced tea, though this time we ate a little -- none of us like their food. It's not like every sports-minded person has to drink beer while they watch sports (though I don't always drink iced tea).Buffalo Wild Wings is clearly designed for Sports Dad to indoctrinate his kids into his fantasy football world, and that culture requires the consumption of large amounts of thin beer to go with the over-seasoned food. If you don't like it, go to some other church and have bread and wine instead.
Where else could I go the few times a year we really want to watch a game, but can't at our house? Nowhere but bars and sports-themed restaurants. Y'all can judge me all you want; I know I'm a good parent.

Yes, correct...and I think young children shouldn't be in that environment...but that's just me, I guess....sometimes parents make "interesting" choices...

Your kids are raising you right, and they're doing a great job. Sweet, kind, smart, polite and friendly. I'll never forget when then four year old Wyatt jumping up from the couch, pointing at the TV and yelling 'FUMBLE!'
Anyway, BWW is about as harmless a place as any and is very family friendly. The fact that they serve alcohol doesn't make it any more threatening to the family structure than Chuck E Cheese, which also serves alcohol and is arguably more rowdy.
If I want to go to have a drink and watch a game with no kids around (and I love and welcome kids), I would go to a place like the Sports Garage (are they still open?), or my favorite, Folsom Lake Bowl Sports Bar. They've got inexpensive but proper drinks made by friendly bartenders, lots of TV's, and an easy going crowd.

Only taken my kids to BWW once, for a kids baseball party. But CW reminded me that we, too, have been know to take our four sports-crazed boys to restaurant bars so they can watch whatever must-see game is on while we dine. The bar at Sol Azteca was one of our favorites (never seemed to be anyone there drinking, and they had a couple of big tables). Apparently we did not do so often enough, since its not longer an option.I admit to taking my kids to BWW (I still want to call it BW3, anyone remember them that way?) because I don't have cable and we are big sports fans. Can't ever recall having an issue with anyone in the hundred or so times iv'e taken my son to the bar area in Red Robin, I think when most people go out to get their drink on Red Robin and Applebees are probably not their top choices to go to. I know i don't act the same way at Red Robin as i have at Citty Slickers.

Red Robin doesn't allow anyone under the age of 21 in the bar area. It has been this way for a few months now, since December I think.
Thanks for the update....
That's how it SHOULD be !!

Now, if they are there drinking alcohol with their buddies, that's a totally different story.
I remember sitting in the bar with my parents on many occasions (usually because every other seat was full & the wait was shorter for the bar area), and I turned out just fine
Some restaurant bars are pretty cool.
