I also spoke to a friend of mine who is a state certified ADA compliance person. He said that it doesn't matter that the ramp is not to code (it had a partial curb at the approach rather than a smooth transition). He also said that at the last meeting he went to to discuss issues with other compliance agents, this was a huge topic. Seems cities are putting these all over the place, many in front of people's homes. Lots of irate homeowners who find the exorbitant "penalties" ridiculous. I mentioned this at an office I frequent, and one of the ladies there said they got her in front of her own house. Seems her tent trailer extended a few inches into the ramp area, so her trailer got the ticket. Bottom line, it's a cash grab by the cities...
Here is a link to what the ramp looks like:

And here is similar to what you see on approach:

It does appear to be a cash grab.

I looked at Google maps, and you couldn't see it. No surprise as it blend in pretty well with the curb. I did appeal, and will get a notification on the appeal in 1-6 weeks.

I get it now, so if a city puts hashmarks in the cement, they can charge $400+ for anyone who parks anywhere even remotely near it. They really should be required to paint the curb blue as a warning. This is a total scam and a class action law suit should be started against the cities and the AMA for creating these corrupt money sucking scams.
That wasn't even a ramp, it was just a rolled curb with hashmarks put on it to scam people out of money

If there arent any street signs and no obvious painted curb then a driver would not be able to see that. I wouldnt tow you if you were in that spot

Not very encouraging when this guy can prove the sign wasn't there and they still didn't waive the ticket.

Did you send photos with your written appeal ?
If you have not - might want to Call Kurtis and see if he will feature this.
Hope you appeal it further.
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Did this process change? It used to be for traffic tickets, when doing trial by written declaration, you would send in the fine as bail in the first place.Just received my answer to my written appeal. Ticket is upheld. I may request a "face to face" hearing (they don't state where), but I have to pay the fine PRIOR to having the hearing.

Tried call Kurtis...no response. Submitted my second layer appeal and had a non-biased third party (law student from McGeorge) look at my case today. She appeared to be leaning in my favor. I think my photos were pretty compelling (I took a few more than I originally posted). I'll know in a couple weeks for sure. Fingers crossed.
Found out that the third party based in San Diego is only a paperwork processor, and does not do the first layer appeals, or the ticketing. That is the Sac Co Sheriffs job. All money collected appears to go to the Sheriffs except for the processing portion by Sac Co Cite.
